  1. at this point, why would any mlb team sign up for the sounds? Whoever lines up for the brewers, I really hope we can finally have some stability at the triple a level. If it is the Rangers in Nashville, I'd love to know why they wouldn't go to San Antonio. Seems like it would make a lot of sense, especially if they are getting a new ball park.
  2. Good points, also Colorado Springs is hardly a national hub for flights and the brewers did OK. Some are making way too much into the travel thing. Also never heard of an occasion where the astros couldn’t get a player to Houston in time.
  3. How many direct flights daily are there from Fresno to MLB cities? How many direct flights from Vegas? Besides my love of Vegas, I think it's a far superior location. Plus Vegas has a brand new ballpark in a nice area. Yes Vegas is a better city, but isn’t the goal to train players for the bigs not have a cool city for fans to visit and the players to play in. I’ll take a boring city in a neutral park over Vegas all of the time.
  4. Does it really matter where rookie ball is? Yes CS is not ideal, but its a nice ballpark with better facilities than anywhere in rookie ball by a mile. Wisconsin and Carolina would give the brewers a good indication of the players ability, and they can still get accumulated to pro ball in a pretty nice park. I wouldn't mind staying in CS.
  5. here is why i would like fresno; reviewing the ball park factors (admiringly from 2016) Fresno is as much as a neutral ball park as one can be, Las Vegas is 4th in the PCL in offense (still way better than CS I admit), while Nashville appears to be quite the pitchers park. https://www.milb.com/milb/news/toolshed-stats-triple-a-ballpark-factors/c-208823408
  6. Isn't Vegas considered to be pretty hitter friendly. I personally would rather have an affiliate that is in a fair park closer to Milwaukee the better, rather than somewhere that is cool to visit. I would rather have an affiliate in Fresno that is a fair ballpark in a boring city than one that is hitter friendly in a cool city. Im still hoping for Nashville but Fresno is a nice constellation prize.
  7. I believe it has to be a 2 year agreement with whoever it is as a pds can’t extend past the current labor agreement with mlbpa.
  8. I agree, he is better than junior but they should have Davies back soon. I’d still take him as long as it’s not for anything significant.
  9. I agree, what is the point of using a roster spot for a older reliever that you cannon rely at ALL. This is not much different at this point then when wang was on the team in 2011 and couldn't be used. His pitches last night were down the middle with no movement, it was basically BP.
  10. well if winning is the only criteria for Nashville management; the sky sox have a better record than the sounds and the shuckers have a better record than midland in the 1st half and currently in the 2nd, albeit in in different leagues.
  11. I assume some bridges were probably burned when Nashville spurned us and we got stuck in CS ??... that was melvin not sterns. I can't see Mark A holding a grudge to get an affiliate much closer to Milwaukee in a new park. The brewers minor league system is significantly better than it was when indy left us. Nashville is my #1 choice, but if its Fesno thats OK with me. The way Sterns uses AAA, this would make so much sense if players are going to shuffle back and forth all season.
  12. 3 years younger, but YES. i was the same way and learned over the years that you need to go for it. Prospects are lottery tickets that you can cash in to go for it all.
  13. I slept on this for a couple days and I do like this move. Is it a risk, Yes. Did the brewers give up good players to get him, Yes. But both did not have a long term future in Milwaukee. Sometimes you have to take a risk, if you want to be playing in October. If things work out defensively, they are going to have one of the better lineups 1-8 in the NL down the stretch.
  14. he would be my top choice of the starters have been mentioned. Id love to know what the price is that the orioles are asking. How about Ortiz, Grisham, and Diplan?
  15. You so know they still are the top of the wild card race and only 3.5 back. This is why you make a move and not sit back
  16. Both for Miller or Saladino and 2 of Phillips, Broxton or Santana? Or is that too much. I have issues with giving up top prospects for players like dozier or Escobar on expiring contracts.
  17. I think you go ahead and get Ramos and Escobar from the Twins. Id love one more reliever too. I said from opening day you don't overpay for a starter because you are getting Nelson back but it has been mum on the Nelson and Davies front of late. Maybe you try to get a starter and let the pen be. Bottom line, I see 3 trades in the next 10 days.
  18. hindsight being 20/20 just think where the team would be if they drafted Embid #2, I understand that it was never an option based on his injury and if anyone said they would have drafted Embid over Parker, they are a liar.
  19. I hope (and think) Sterns is smart enough not to overpay based on one poor week for a rental. If they trade for him and can keep Peralta, Hiura, and Burnes. I will probably be OK with it, but I can't see the deal getting done without one of those with so many teams going after him. Wish they would go after a player like Hairston Jr, like they did in 2011 rather than go for the home run.
  20. I am late to the Parker to Bulls news. couple of points: 1) yes its true, that if the bucks signed Parker to that same deal I would be ecstatic. 2) that being said, with the signings of lopez and Ersan, along with a bunch of bad contracts, there was never going to be 2 million to do that. 3) I still think that Lopez + Ersan +(whatever they do with the 8 mm under the cap that they are) is better next season that Parker. (provided that they don't completely waste that money (I understand that odds are that they guarantee Jennings and call there roster done). 4) If that is true they do have cap room to make a deal in February then. Overall I am sad that they whole Parker thing didn't go the way I thought it would and puts pressure on Horst to Match Giannis with a superstar or two in the very near future.
  21. Couldn’t have said it better. These guys are about making money and to do so they are putting together a team just good enough to make people think they can be contenders. YES! there is no way you donate 250? Million of your own money if you aren't going to make it back. Its been proven that EVERY public stadium deal is a loss for the city. That being said every city provides a lot of services that are a net loss (I was a lifeguard for Milwaukee county way back in the day and they posted a sign in the pools that admission pays about 20% (# may be off it was 20 years ago) of the net cost to run the pools). The arena and Miller Park are good for the city.(also the arena will cost the tax payers far less in than Miller Park in the long run anyway).
  22. only slightly. the celts will be improved next season with Hayward for a full season. the sixers will continue to improve and the raptors haven't lost anything from last season. right now i think the ceiling for the bucks is 4th.
  23. looking at your matches, they seem pretty even handed to me. therefore i am going to go as a feel as sp Match 1, team #2. I think having andre and goldberg in their primes gives them an advantage. match 2, team #1, have a pretty strong opinion on that. braun, triple h, bret and AJ. wow what a team. match 3, team #2, hard to pick against yokozuna, but what a group team #2 is match 4, team #1, always hard to pick against Y2J, but you have 2 Vince and Shane. team #1 is filled with some of the better technical wrestlers out there and a Demon. match 5, very close, but will give the edge to team #2. match 6, again very close, but slight edge to team #1. mostly because of hardy boyz and edge/ christian. match 7, i must admit there are some obscure ones for me (orient express, power and glory). so i have to give the edge to team #2. as I know all of these teams. thanks that was fun.
