  1. i wish him the best too. I was one of the very few fans that wouldn't boo Turnbow through his struggles and still wore my turnbow jersey with pride. I was at the game where he got his last save as a brewer where he was being booed before he even through a pitch. I know major leagers should be able to wipe it away, but i think it definitely has an affect on him.
  2. I guess i don't understand why hoffmann wouldn not want to come here. Part of the effect of the closer market drying up is that there are really not man closer jobs available. Besides a simple love of the game, the only 2 reasons for Hoffman to come back once san diego told him they didn't plan for him to come back would be to get more saves and to go to the playoffs. The brewers are the only team that i can think of that will be good next year and have a closer job available. Cordero is another interesting option. I really don't have much interest in Izzy after seing him fall apart for the cards and eventually loosing his job. Of the players we have on the roster. my choice would be McClung. He definitely has a more closer mentatlity than CV, also I think Villaneuva is still more valuable as a starter than a closer.
  3. What's the difference between OWI, DWI, DUI..etc? I know it's "Opperating while intoxicated", "Driving while intoxicated", "Driving under the influence".....but what causes a person to get issued one and not the other? my friends and i had this discussion while driving to watertown to celebrate new years. It is possible to get a DUI and not be of the legal limit. If you blow, say a 0.04 but fail a field sobriety test you get a DUI. This apparently is just a traffic ticket. Driving over the legal limit results in a DWI. I know my sister got pulled over last year and got a DUI and DWI. Not to be preachy either because I am not without sin and I know i have shared this story before on this forumn, but while i was 21 I was driving home from water street now knowing i was over the legal limit and got pulled over for speeding, but was not asked if i was drinking or anything. Ever since then I will not get behind a wheel after drinking at all. That definitely scared me straight on that one.
  4. well we are getting about 4 in milwaukee on tuesday. I really wish there was one day above freezing with no snow. i don't that has happened in about 2 weeks.
  5. i saw the DVD over the weekend and I agree it could of been made a lot better. I guess I thought it was too heavy on interviews instead of just showing highlights and letting Uecker speak over them. There were alot of memorable games not even mentioned. Also I wish it would of focused more on the final week. I though FSN's season ending wrap up was done much better than this DVD. I wish I would of got it on tape when it was airing all the time.
  6. I know EdgarDiazRocks usually starts this thread but its getting close to the end of the year and I wanted to get this started. It is hard to make a top 5 but here we go. 5. TV on the Radio " Dear Science" 4. Adele "19" 3. Girl Talk "Feed the Animals" 2. Bon Iver " For Emma, Forever ago" 1. The Stills "Oceans will Rise" as far as songs go 10.Kings of Leon "Sex on Fire" 9 The Lackloves "Hallmark Stars" 8. Little Jackie "28 Butts" 7. Kayne West "Love Lock Down" 6 My Morning Jacket "I'm Amazed" 5. Black Kids "I'm not going to teach your boyfriend how to dance" 4. James "Waterfall" 3. Kings go Forth "You're the One" 2. Sam Sparro "Black and Gold 1. The Constellations "We're here to save the Day"
  7. i thought furcal was offered 4 and 40 from the a's but it was his least favorite of the 3.
  8. i saw it on the 10 o'clock news on channel 4 last night.
  9. well unlike the bobbleheads, there is a note on the voucher that says valid while supplies last which I'd assume means no rain checks.
  10. i'm slightly concerned because there are only 40000 dvd's, which means there are more vouchers than dvd's. Hopefully stock can hold up until the weekend when I can finally pick one up.
  11. i agree with masshass, very insightful post. I never really though about the that time in 92 and 93. I guess the only difference was that the some in the national media still had the brewers as playoff contenders in 93. I remember some publication picking us to win the whole thing. I don't think there will be the same expectations in april for this team. taking a deeper look in the 93 team vs the 09 team lets compare the opening day roster vs the potential one for this year. 1993 2009 C Kmack Kendall adv 2009 1B Jaha Fielder adv 2009 2B Thon Weeks adv 2009 SS Listach Hardy adv 2009 3B Sufhoff Hall adv 2009 LF Vaughn Braun adv 2009 CF Yount Cam/Cabera adv 2009 if cameron; push if cabrera RF Hamilton Hart adv push SP1 Wegman Gallardo adv 2009 SP2 Eldred Parra adv 1993 SP3 Navarro Bush adv 2009 SP4 Bones Suppan adv push SP5 Boddicker ?? CL Henry ?? While i understand the offseason has just started, and that there is a major trade in the works that could potentially move hardy to 3rd and escobar to ss, i think the 2009 team is better hands down. The 1993 team had huge injury problems that led to their demise. Jaha and Eldred were always hurt. No matter what the rotation looks like, the 2009 team will put up runs. The 1993 team had a fading superstar in Yount, and really had one potential superstar in Vaughn. I know the comparisons will be there because of hte loss of CC and possibly sheets, and I agree with some of roco's post, but I still think this will atleast be an 80 win team, not a 69 win disaster. EDIT: sorry i still don't know how to put tabs between characters (prettified --1992 http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif)
  12. I love the brewers pre and post game on 1250 and I listen to Rome. I have pretty much removed most sports talk from my daily routine. It just seems like hearing about the topic of the day over and over can make for a very boring day.

  14. the best i have done so far is 5 in the row, it used to be picking games but now it seems like there are more prop bets. Yesterday I lost because I felt the Vikes would score more off the lions than the packers against the texans. Those types of bets makes things difficult.
  15. pretty much my fast food consumption revolves around fazoli's, qdoba, panera, and cousins.
  16. that would be a big blow as I have really enjoyed the job he has done. I know moving back home would be appealing but I hope the possibility of calling winning baseball here for a while and working with Uecker will be enough reason for him to stay.
  17. stuff like this makes me feel old. I remember him coming up as a rookie in Baltimore and is now retiring after playing for 17 years.
  18. sabathia was 6th as well. I am surprised that it didn't go to Howard and Braun finished about where I though.
  19. Testees is #1 on my radar.Gary Unmarried is up there too.
  20. So do we know who the new HR person is yet? not sure what they are going do to with it, but i did see a preview for this weeks episode where Toby returns.
  21. i loved the look on Ryan's face when Darrel was so quick to break up with her.
  22. well he would be my choice if we go inhouse but i'd hope we get an established choiser before we got to seth
  23. right now i'd give the job to seth mcclung, but i hope Melvin finds a better option.
  24. it was about the time i canceled xm, so i am thinking closer to 2 years ago, anyway its really the only radio station i listen to besides occasionally 102.1. Problem is with that station is just like the others, you start hearing songs over and over and it ruins them for you.
  25. patrick, we do have radio milwaukee 88.9, its not all rock, but its a good variety of songs. http://radiomilwaukee.org/playlist.asp
