  1. its not a revenue generating sport, its clearly all and only about the Benjamins. its not really about what the fans want, the student athletes or anything else.
  2. My perfect FA was to bring back Carter and Portis. Happy that they got Matthews too. If Ingles can recover and be back for the 2nd half, its a great signing, but thats a we shall see. Horst did have a good day though.
  3. I disagree, there will still be automatic qualifiers, conference tournaments. The model they have makes a ton of money, i just don’t think the NCAA will change it. I do agree football can make a ton more with what I think they are moving to.
  4. @owbc the big east is fine and won’t change from this. I’m glad the BE saw this a decade ago and got rid of all of the football schools. I think you are right, maybe one tune up game for the big boys and then 11-12 conference games will be their season.
  5. I can’t argue with your logic. I’m sure any B1G/SEC vs BE challenges will be gone. Marquette really only schedules a 1 or 2 major matchups pre-conference not including the challenges./ holiday tournaments. But clearly the more conference games those teams play, the less opportunities the BE would have to play those schools.
  6. I don’t see much affect on basketball unless they completely change the tournament which makes too much money to. There will still be automatic qualifiers, I think football is where we will see a completely change of how things are done. Cinderella will still occasionally show up to the dance, not matter what the SEC and BIG do. I will say though with NIL money now top players will be in the SEC and BIG and the AAC, BE, PAC10, and Big12 fighting for scraps. Those players are the 1 and done type though, the secondary conferences can develop players for the every once and a while run with a vet team.
  7. This would mean playoffs in the SEC and BIG and the winners being the national champion for football
  8. I’m seeing a lot of speculation online that Ingles may not play at all this season or else will miss considerable time. Therefore giving him the full MLE seems dubious. Horst is normally more right than wrong, so I:m sure he knows more than
  9. This is good for UW and the BIG, but horrible for college sports. I’m not saying that its horrible for the colleges or networks, but for the sport. We are in a collision course of 2 conferences that matter in NCAAAF.
  10. Matthews and Carter are back.
  11. kind of what I expected when he was signed (maybe a little higher, but not much). I think its clear what they need to do.
  12. I’ve always had the thought that the brewers could/would/should sign 1 out of the 3. .My preference was Burnes but I think he commands the most, so I think Hader and Burnes will walk anyway. If they can keep Woodruff and have Peralta signed long term along with Ashby and Small in pre-arby deals, their rotation is not that bad. Devin Williams can be your closer for the next 3 seasons. I don’t think ownership is going to blow it up if they don;’t have to. I don’t think they do. Also i would hope Burnes and Hader would be traded to retool the farm system if they are certain they can’t resign him, so there would be talent coming back. So my answer is retool.
  13. the cap is expected to increase 11.2MM this upcoming season, which may at least help the bucks keep their guys if they want to stay here.
  14. FA tampering period starts tomorrow at 5pm. I’m not expecting much on the bucks side. I would love it if they can bring back Portis and Carter, but its going to be hard especially with Connaughton announcing he is accepting his player option.
  15. I didn't get to go to the game, but did go to the fan fest at the Midwest Express Center, which was fun. I do remember watching at home and getting Little Caesars for dinner from the location near MP.
  16. https://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2022/06/27/stephen-watson-heads-to-bally-sports-wisconsin.html He basically is replacing Dario. its interesting he left to join WISN, and Watson is coming from WISN. I don’t watch local news so I don’t think I ever heard him give a sportscast. It sounds like he will be the main Bucks pre/post game host as well. Since I haven’t seen him, i don’t have much of an opinion of him, but was wondering what others thought that may have seen him on TV.
  17. Would be awesome if he showcased himself enough in triple A that a team gives a lottery ticket prospect or a reliever / OF vet that could help.
  18. Only one person who stated concerns showed any political leanings. A lot of people have put in a lot of work to make this a friendly place to talk baseball, other Wisconsin sports, and (almost) anything else we feel like talking about. Since Brock has taken over this site, he has added ads which generate revenue based on clicks. This makes users like myself a customer, not just a community member. Also some of us (including myself) have decided to spend 60 dollars a year to support this site, because it has been void of issues like today. As everyone said, your site, your rules. I don’t plan to go on here less over a 1 day campaign to raise awareness to an issue that is near and dear to the owners heart. Because of it though, there was name calling and the owner did spend a decent amount of time out of day responding to concerns by his customers.
  19. One of the mainstays of this site is that its a spot to discuss sports and not politics. Brian was always very adamant of this and enforced it to the point he created a separate website to let those have at it. I see the banner this AM. While I am aware its a hot button issue and many want to do what they can to help, it does go against everything that website has believed in from its inception.
  20. Has anyone here signed up? How is the experience? Is it a new app? Is it possible to watch on multiple TV’s at the same time?
  21. He was one of the guys i thought could go here. No very upset
  22. Bucks are on the clock. These 2 are available and I’d be happy with both.
  23. If they go big, I do like Jaylin Williams. If they want a shooter, Blake Wesley seems like my top choice. I know completely different than earlier predictions / wants, but finally got a chance to review some mocks / write-ups..
  24. I think the idea is to have Severino as the 3rd catcher / backup 1st if this works out. caratini has earned the backup catcher spot.
  25. If he can do it, more power to him. We have seen this before with varied results. It would be nice to keep him around somehow incase one of the other 2 guys goes down. That being said, if Jackson fills that row the result of the regular season and they keep the roster spot open for someone else. I'm OK with that too. Lets be honest, Severino is not a great bat, so just cutting him and eating the half a years salary, isn't terrible either.
