Interesting lineup. Is this Yost's way getting back at Seattle for starting one projected OD starter vs us last game? By not following the "rule" of 4 roster players per spring training game?

Well, he does have 4 OD starters in there: Gwynn/Gross, Fielder, Hardy, and Kendall. That said, the fact that there are only four, one of which will start Opening Day only due to Cameron's suspension, may not be coincidental.

I am not Shea Vucinich

Haudricourt reported that Braun was a late scratch due to a sore achilles.

Manager Ned Yost assured me it was no big deal and that Braun would have played if it was the regular season.

I really do not like how much Yost uses Counsell as a leadoff man; even though its ST. Scares me that he will use him for leadoff during the season more than once.

Barring injury or massive slump I would think Counsell is pegged for one start per week alternating between short one week and second the other. I would guess on days he starts for Weeks, he'll leadoff and when he starts for Hardy, he'll bat 7th just so Ned won't have to rearrange the rest of the lineup.

Am I missing something here? I read Capuano was supposed to get the start, and the frontpage of the Brewers website says "listen live as Capuano takes on Carlos Silva."

Was he a late scratch?

Actually the more I think about it, I wonder if this lineup was put in place for Capuano. Considering Nunez, Hardy, Counsell, Gwynn, Kendall are playing the more difficult defensive positions. Yost may be taking a look at how Capuano does with a solid defense behind him.

Man, MLB's live box score is a joke. As team it says the Brewers has 5 hits, but it also says Silva has given up 7 hits. Hmmm, I don't understand what is so hard about offering Gameday during ST.

ever since the whole contract episode Prince couldnt get a hit off of Cheech and Chong

I think he does need to get his head out of his you know what. Maybe he is distracted, maybe he is just in a "slump" either way it is pretty bad timing considering his recent public comments as well as the hissy fit he had that was described by one of the spring training attendees

This is why Capuano is in trouble. He can't avoid the big inning one way or the other. I know there were errors, but c'mon get a strikeout. Plus, when your fielders make an error, you can't give up more hits. Get out of the inning.

Another good performance from a youngster (Villy, Parra) and another blow up by a veteran (Cappy, Bush). Unearned or not Cappy is a veteran and should be able to work around this type of thing. I'm beginning to fear that Cappy may never recover from what happened to him last year. On a postive note Villy continues to impress and I can't see any way he doesn't make this rotation. To me there are 3 locks for starting the seasons (Sheets, Suppan, and Villy) and Gallardo. That leaves 2 spots to open the season. Parra and Vargas are leading that race and the margin is beginning to widen. In my ideal world Parra and Vargas would start and Vargas would move to the pen or be traded when YoGa is ready.
