My wife and I are in Chicago for Wednesday and Thursdays games, and very excited about seeing some baseball. Anybody up for bloody marys at Murphys??

Don't go to Murphy's. Go to Bernie's.

Quite the compelling argument there. I totally understand why I wouldn't want to go to Murphy's, and why Bernie's is that much better.

If you're looking for good bloody marys in Wrigleyville, hit up Newport Bar and Grille (near the intersection of newport and soutport avenues)...it's a bit off the beaten wrigleyville path so you actually have a place to sit, and the food there's really good, too if you want to grab something before the game starts. You won't be paying 5 bucks for a can of old style there like you would at Murphy's, either.

Go to Mullen's.

Go to the Nisei Lounge on Sheffield, my former corner tap. It generally avoids the kind of jerks that go to Bernie's or Murphy's, and still is a stone's throw from the stadium, the misspelled Ernie Banks' statue and the likeness of Harry Caray descending into hell.

First time poster. but I've lived in Chi for 8 years. You can't go wrong on a Wednesday April day game. Murphy's should be fine. Bernies is on the other side of the park and is better in summer with their beer garden. Harry Careys just took over HiTops on Sheffield and addison. That is brand new and worth a look. Somewhere like Merkles, Red Ivy, or Mullens are all inside and will be warmer on Clark. I'm heading to Murphys around noon. then headed to the bleachers for some harrassment and hopefully to see Braun continue his domination of lefty pitching.

the misspelled Ernie Banks' statue
What is that supposed to mean?

There is a misspelling on the Banks statue. There's a story about it by the team's corporate masters today. Says "Lets Play Two," instead of "Let's Play Two." "It's An Accident!"

I usually go Murphy's pregame, but that's because I'm more often than not in the bleachers and the patio lets me monitor the line. I did watch the D'Backs complete the sweep at Bernie's though, so that place will always have a special place in my heart.

Technically it's not misspelled, it's mis-punctuated. They missed the apostrophe. They said the artist is fixing it in the next couple of days, so those there this week should take pictures now, before the fix.

Technically, a word is misspelled if the word that is meant to be spelled is not spelled correctly, whether it's a matter of punctuation, the wrong letters or whatever. Like Kerry Woods, for instance, though his case is not merely a matter of misspelling. But yes, I do hope there are plenty of pictures.

It doesn't matter the statue is now fixed and has the apostrophe. We ended up going to Mullens, and it was very empty but they had good bloody marys/

Try Higgin's. Racine and School. Like the Newport, it is just far enough away (3Blocks) to have some room. Also it's on the way to Will's Northwood which is 3 blocks further south. Will's is a Packer bar and a good time also.

Will's is basically a Wisconsin bar. It wouldn't surprise me if they showed Brewer games there.
