Not normally. I think Chris Duncan is their regular 2 Hole hitter. Against a lefty on opening day I guess LaRussa wanted a more experienced player. Hit ahead of Pujols and you will see some pitches.

Preston Wilson isn't a decent option to bat. I still can't believe the Cards haven't had a decent corner OFer for two years in a row now. The corner OFers today are Wilson and Taguchi.

Wilson posted an .858 OPS vs lefties last year with a .362 OBP so he's not a bad option against them.

 

His 3 year splits against lefties are .279/.346/.516/.862. He probably K's too much to bat 2nd but they really don't have many options since the lineup is so weak in general.
