Edit: Anyone know who's calling the game tonight? Barry Melrose is doing color commentary for the RIT/Denver game. I hope Gary Thorne does the Badger game, he's awesome.

Perfect example though of what i posted a few days ago about being scared of this Vermont game. In any one and done hockey format, a hot goalie can carry an inferior team to a victory.

If anybody has ESPN 360, the SCSU-NMU game is awesome. 3-3, almost done with the first OT.

 

edit: wooooooo, SCSU wins, 23 seconds into the second OT. 1-8 in this dadgum tournament baby!!!!

Dumb penalty by Mitchell. You're likely getting a powerplay if you don't shove him to the ice.

There is no way that's a penalty. He didn't even hit him in the head!

I realize why the rule is there, but come on, the guy is headed up the ice, looking back towards the puck, and leaning down. CHECKING IS ALLOWED! I lived for opportunities to line people up like that... IN PRACTICE! The rule is there for a reason, a hit like that was not one of them.

I could easily understand that penalty if he actually hit him in the head, but he didn't and he led with his shoulder not his elbow. That was a clean hit.

 

The referee who called it was behind the play and shielded by Smith so he didn't have a good view of if he hit him in the head or led with an elbow.

Anybody see that Denver LOST tonight? RIT pulled off the huge upset 2-1. That being said, SCSU really scares me.

Couple more games tonight. Yale got their first win in the tournament since 1952 today beating North Dakota 3-2.

 

RIT and New Hampshire are playing right now and it looks like RIT will be heading to the Frozen Four. Currently leading New Hampshire 4-1 with 14 minutes left.

 

The winner of the St. Cloud/Wisconsin game will face most likely RIT in the Frozen Four.
