wow, Ohka being hit awefully hard, as brewerjamie15 said. Ohka at 59 pitches, and not fooling everyone. He'll be lucky to make it through 5 innings with fewer than 90 pitches and 5 runs allowed, unless something changes.

Finally Tomo gets out of the inning. That was bad, but it could have been worse.

Those of you watching the game, how are his pitches looking? On Gameday, all I can see is location.

Taguchi hit a decent pitch, but the ones to Pujols and Edmonds were right down mainstreet. It looked like he wanted to go inside on Edmonds but just missed.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

His pitches are missing targets, he's not getting swinging strikes, and their fouling off his mediocre ones.

Nothing against Yost here...more of a flaw in baseball in-game management in general, but it's times like this that managers should consider going to the bullpen early. De La Rosa would be a good option here for 2-3 innings. While he can give up some runs, his "filthines" might give us a better chance than Ohka. Gotta be careful here...the longer Ohka is in, the better the Cards are hitting him. Don't overexpose him

drink for the ugliest human being alive being shown in the dugout.
This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

Bill Hall getting a good start to his day - Rickie Weeks just needs to get the ball out of the infield here and we can get a run.

I think he's due to hit one out of the park, though...

i don't get what's so special about the new ballpark...there's nothing really to distinguish it from other parks....drink for yost in the dugout.
