The Twins wouldn't spend the money on him because they didn't want to give him a third year. I believe it is they made an astute call, though the contract isn't too bad for the Dodgers.

It wouldn't have been too bad for the Twins either. Solving your 3B problems for 3 years and 17 million doesn't seem that bad. It's better than the Bill Hall contract.

Its not solving your problems for three years. Its solving it for one year and hoping he doesn't collapse in the second year and he'll almost certainly collapse by the third.

Blake is 35 and turns 36 in August. Blake is a career 780 OPS guy, I don't have any reason to believe at age 38 he'll be putting up solid numbers.
