I would've taken a flyer for that contract - 1 year at $800k. It's hard to know exactly which way the Brewers will be going in CF until Cam is either traded or it's decided he's staying.

Was Gathright a top or near top prospect when he was called up? He's incredibly fast, and I remember Peter Gammons being high on him, but he never really hit any groove or anything.
