Reds released LHP Rheal Cormier.

Cormier cleared waivers, meaning the Reds will be on the hook for his $2.5 million salary, less the minimum if he catches on elsewhere. Cormier gave up three runs in three innings before being DFA'd on April 28.

why not give him a shot? if he is awful you haven't lost anything, but if he is decent, then you get a gain, it can't hurt, though Melvin won't touch him

I guess what I am thinking is, if Shouse (knock on wood) goes down, we don't really have a similar guy available to us. It'd be nice to have some insurance for his role. Not sure if this is the guy or what circumstances I'd want him under...

Manny Parra has been disgustingly good v. LH. If we do indeed need another LOOGY at some point (Wise's unusual success v. LH may skew this need), I'd bet it's Parra.

 

 

To be honest, though, I'd kind of want to do it just to stick roughly $2 mil. to Cincy!

couldn't you leave him in AAA until you need him, I don't know it seems like a cheap option and IMO if he performs well, you get a steal, if not, put him in AAA, or does he have to start on the parent club?

Why don't we ever get the Douche involved in trade rumors? He could be a top three set-up guy in the NL...and another top three guy would be T-Bow (and Sexy Broxy would probably round out my top 3). Nevertheless, good times.

Rousie Boy - Cormier, for all intents and purposes, comes absolutely free if we want him in some fashion.

Again, Cormier is old, but was a starter in the past. Might he be a better option than Dessens? I don't believe he's been picked up yet (probably enough of a reason to expect a lot of "no" responses).
