The worst part is that Parra had the shawdows in his favor.

Actually not so much, I think. The "best" conditions would be when the pitcher is in sun and batter in shadows or visa-versa. With the late start they were both in shadows. In about another 1/2 hour the sun through the window will start hitting hime plate.

Is it just me, or does Gamel strike out looking a lot?

I don't know but he doesn't chase very many out of the strike zone and he makes good contact in general on balls in the strike zone, so it is probably true.

Right now his only positive run value pitch is the fast ball, hopefully he starts picking up no the off speed stuff better.

I thought it was when there was a shadow between the mound and home. So it would be sunlight, shade, sunlight... or something like that. shade, sunlight, shade...

Ugh, Smith is pefectly displaying why this is so frustrating. This is not a good offensive team, and they put up 6 in one inning!

Good news is Smith looks OK so far. Of course, if the color commentator had his way, Parra would still be pitching in the 2nd down about 17-0 because "he got them into this mess and he's got to get them out." That comment still irks me.

Alone the comment is dumb in most situations, with Stockton's qualifier in regards to starting fresh the next inning it makes sense.

It looks like Hart might be starting to get hot, I wouldn't mind moving him up to 2nd in the order and bumping Hardy down to 7th while JJ is struggling.

Why on earth did they let Smith swing there?

Edit: I guess he bunted, although you can't blame me for not paying complete attention to this game.

Great opportunity for Smith in this game to pitch well and keep a spot on the roster.

I'm assuming Macha will let him go until he's out of gas.

Brewer draftee Khris Davis went 1-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Cal State Fullerton's 10-6 loss to Arkansas at the College World Series today. They'll play in an elimination game on Monday.

Smith has pitched really well, but as I expected, Contreras has been baffling the offense so far. Frustrating that they only have one hit.

Hardy is 5 for 41 in June and 0 for his last 21. Yikes! Still doesn't feel like he should have those poor of stats though.
If he keep those kind of numbers up, I wouldn't mind seeing Counsell at SS some and McGehee at 2B against RHP.

Well, this is about as good of a game as any to see what Cat can do at 2B. I do agree this is the exact kind of game getting Gamel more live playing time at 3B would be useful, but I'm guessing they are probably trying to refresh Counsell at 3B.
