Trip to new Target Field in MN this year - Need Ideas

I will be making the trip with a few other guys up to MN this May for the Brewer game. I have never been up there and am looking for some hotel and bar/night-life recommendations. We will be going up Friday and staying Friday and Saturday night. Any info would be helpful.

I'm going up too. If you search Hotwire.com for the weekend the Brewers are in town, you will find some ridiculously cheap hotel rates in downtown Minneapolis. Last year I paid $49 a night for a 4 star downtown hotel and the Metrodome was within walking distance so I didn't have to pay for parking at the stadium.

After the game, a buddy and I walked around downtown Minneapolis and popped into a couple of random bars/clubs. There were people out all over and the club scene was crazy. I wanted to get into First Avenue (I'm a huge Prince fan) but the line stretched around the block.

My band plays out in Minneapolis a few times every year so I go out in that city somewhat regularly...

Williams in Uptown on Hennepin is a peanut bar with a million beers on tap. It's not cheap there, but it's certainly not wallet-busting either. More of a sports bar atmosphere.

There's a place called "Matt's Bar" that serves Jucy Lucy's - you may have seen them on the Food/Travel channels. It's a burger with a molten core of cheese. Highly recommended. Do not mistakenly go to the 5-8 Club for a Juicy Lucy... Matt's is the place to go.

Another good place for food is one of the Pizza Luce restaurants.

And most importantly... there is a VFW Hall right next to a bar called the Herkimer - both are about 2 miles from William's. At this VFW Hall is where dreams are made and karaoke is done right. Beer is also cheap. You are guarenteed a good time there.

great ideas. I have heard of Matt's bar for the jucy lucy and think that would be awesome.

Hotwire for a 4 star hotel right now is $104 a night.

Twins single game tickets go on sale March 13th at 9...Seems late

If it's still open (I don't get up to the Twin Cities very regularly), there's a bar called the Triple Rock Social Club that serves a killer "hangover breakfast".
It's definitely still there, we played there the last two times we were in Minneapolis. Great place, but haven't had the food before.

Al's in Dinkytown serves the best pancakes i have ever had. However, you need to research it first, as it is very odd and has some strange customs you might not be ready for, if you don't.

Unless I go the Ebay/Stubhub/Craig's List route, looks like I won't be making a trip to Target Field this year. Single game tix went on sale this morning at 0845. I got into the virtual waiting room at exactly 0845. I selected the Brewers/Twins game on Saturday, 05-22. I waited about 10 minutes before I could make my selection. When I went to buy my 2 tickets in the terrace section, I received an error message saying that the game was not available.

I then selected Sunday's Brewers/Twins game. I had to wait about 15 minutes this time. When I finally got through, the only seats available were the $62 seats. I passed. When I went to try again for Saturday's game, a message then popped up saying that the game was only available through a season ticket package. Grrrrrr.

TracyThom- I had the same problems you had, but actually just got into the Saturday Virtual Waiting Room and a message popped up: "Please Note: Tickets for the following games are not available at this time: 4/17, 5/21, 5/23, 5/25, 5/26, 5/27, 7/17"

So I'm not sure if this means the tickets to these games are sold out, or what... but it's a possibility they just had a problem with the system.

I was trying for tickets this morning and all three Brewer games were sold out by 9:15. Disappointing, I was hoping to see the new stadium. Looks like tickets are going fast, the entire first week of games in April is sold out too.

They might just be holding some tickets for season ticket packages. They may release those tickets closer to the start of the season if not enough people buy season tix between now and then.

FWIW, I was up there to see the new stadium last weekend when the Gophers played the first game there. The concourses are extremely tight compared to Miller Park. And I'd advise having tickets in hand instead of waiting at one of the ticket lines. It's one huge cluster because it's right near the entrances and the lines were intersecting w/each for purchasing tickets and to get into the stadium. Something really nice is that the train runs right past the field, and will drop you off 20 feet from an entrance, very nice! We didn't do too much walking around the neighborhood, but it looked like there are a decent number of bars / restaurants around.
