Based on this tweet from Chris Mehring, we know that RHP Maverick Lasker was dropped from Brevard to Wisconisn. The Manatees need to free up another roster spot to make room for both Tyler Thornburg and Austin Ross.

They have done so by placing RHP Hiram Burgos on the DL -- no word on the nature or severity of any injury.

After all recent moves, Nashville, Huntsville, and Brevard are filled at 24, 24, and 25, respectively. Wisconsin has an opening with 24 filled, limit 25.

The AAA and AA rosters remain stable to begin the 2nd half.

From SLAM! Sports:
Dustin Houle of Penticton, B.C., an eighth-round choice, signed with the Milwaukee Brewers, who gave him a $150,000 signing bonus. Houle played for the Canadian junior national team and the Langley Blaze. He¹s the second Canadian to receive a six-figure bonus and the 14th to sign. Three other free agent Canadians have signed.
You can check out a couple scouting reports on Houle in the draft forum.

Mass, Elliott Johnson of the Rays was the even rarer "undrafted out of high school". The two undrafted Rays on that AFL squad both reached the bigs-- Johnson and Brian Stokes

Hmmmm... I'm smelling a Canadian bias... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Via Baseball America's Transactions Blog (h/t Uecker Powell), we learn that the Brewers have also signed 3rd-round RHP Drew Gagnon (read four different scouting reports on our draft forum). Gagnon takes the title of highest signed pick from Ramirez.

Other transactions yet to be noted: RHP Blake Billings, promising enough to receive a $200K bonus as a 19th-round pick in 2008 but yet to escape the AZL, begins the year on the DL. He only pitched one inning last year, so he probably is recovering from arm surgery of some kind. Also, 2010 41st-round OF Derrick Shaw, one of those missing from the AZL roster earlier this week, was released. Still no word on the other two, LHP Dane Amedee and RHP Morgan Brinson.

Brew Crew Ball reports that 4th-round 1B Nick Ramirez has signed. Check out his scouting reports in the draft forum. Ramirez is the highest pick to sign so far.
Haudricourt:
Ramirez also served as Fullerton's closer and some teams were interested in him as a pitcher, but he wanted to be drafted as a first baseman and the Brewers obliged.

"I made it clear I didn't want to pitch (professionally)," said Ramirez, who signed for $215,000. "I see myself as a player in the major leagues at first base. I like the adrenaline of going into games (as a closer) but this is what I want to do.

"I was real excited when I heard the Brewers drafted me. This is a dream come true. I know there's some tough competition at first base in the organization, but I just want to go out and play and show what I can do. I'm ready to play."

Ramirez was assigned to the rookie club in Helena, Mont.

Is there any chance that Patrick Arlis looks like Bill Murray?

To make this transaction easier, maybe we should take a page from the fast food restaurants:

Combo #1: Patrick Arlis was activated from the disabled list

Combo #2: Patrick Arlis was placed on the disabled list

Combo #3: Patrick Arlis was transferred to Helena

Combo #4: Patrick Arlis was transferred from Helena

Per his own tweet, Jason Rogers is headed back to Wisconsin.

Actually, there is a trio joining the Rattlers (in time to play at Miller Park Wednesday night?), so we can expect roster shakeup news this afternoon. This from Nicholas Allen in Helena --

Following the contest, three Helena Brewers were promoted to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Low-A, Midwest League). Pitcher Skyler Crawford, catcher Joey Paciorek and 1B/OF Jason Rogers were all transferred. Crawford and Paciorek had been with Helena on injury rehab stints.

Well, Rogers too, given his broken hand.

Another Mehring tweet:

More @TimberRattlers roster moves: C Joey Paciorek, P Skyler Crawford, P Adrian Rosario, & IF Jason Rogers - @jasonrogers2003 - join team
We already knew about Paciorek, Crawford and Rogers, but Rosario being demoted from Brevard County is new.

Expect some Brevard transactions here in a bit. They have two open roster spots for moves we don't know about yet.
