Ear worms....

Ok... been screwing with my buddy at work, getting songs stuck in his head all day.

So what song is your worst ear worm, one you just can never get out of your head.

Mine is

Slade - Run Run Away

You knew me as Myday2001.

I don't have one particular one but the last one stuck in my head for an extended period of time was "Don't Happen Twice" by Kenny Chesney. And again now since I've been reminded...

Always look on the bright side of life.... *whistle*

My two least favorite songs, that stick with you longer than herpes.

Beverly Hills by Weezer

and the B-A-N-A-N-A-S song by Gwen Stefani.

Torture.

The whistling at the beginning of "Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and John. Actually any song with a whistle has a pretty good shot at being an earworm.

Commercial jingles get me.

There's one out right now is a commercial where a female voice is singing "Don't. Stop. Doin what ya do..."

And the other one is that Citibank rock climbing commercial from earlier this year where the song in the background is "Somebody left the gate ooooopppeennnn..."

I don't have a single stickiest earworm, but I seem to be prone to earworms in general. At the moment: Hustle (HUSTLE) hustle (HUSTLE) hustle (HUSTLE) hustle HARD...

Your problem is with Lowe's and Citi.

It's starting to penetrate pop culture now, but my first listens to "Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye stuck in my head due to its earworm-y-ness.

(Note: for Full effect, listen to the album / music video; my local FM station has some horrible dance mix radio edit of the song.)

There is an appliance store up here in the Twin Cities called Warner's Stellian that has the most annoying jingle. To make it worse, their commercials run constantly. I would purposely never shop there simply because of how annoying their jingle is. Here is an example of what it sounds like:

Aqua - Barbie Girl

Came to mind instantly upon reading the OP and is now stuck in my head... why did I read this thread ???

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

You're treading on dangerous grounds. I partnered up on jobs with a certain guy for years and we started playing this very game. It was all in good fun... until he dropped the nuke. I had this thing stuck in my head for nearly ten years. It is indeed that bad. I've infected many others as well. I'm actually having to fight it off as I type this. It doesn't latch on real easily, you'll have to sing it a few times, maybe even whistle it; but once it grabs hold, it really grabs hold. Click at your own risk...

Curse you Nottso - even with the warning! :) I'm very partial to music from that era, so that doesn't help. That earworm is the equivalent of what crawls in Chekov's ear in ST II. GAAA!

(Nice one, though!)

Someone at UW's Memorial Union today is on a Madonna kick. Too much Madonna on the jukebox this last hour. I could tolerate "Like a Prayer" if it had to be an ear worm, but the last song on before we left was "Like a Virgin." Boo!
