Another extremely important game. After today, the Brewers have the scheduling advantage over the Cardinals, so they should be able to pick up ground. The bad news is there's no room for error, they must sweep Houston.

Their elimination number is 4, so if they go 7-0, St Louis needs to go at worst, 3-3 for the 'Crew to tie.

Yeah, that's ugly...but crazier things have happened. Really, it's just amazing that they (most likely) are going to have a winning season after how far back they were in August.

Darn I was hoping for a weak lineup today from the Reds with it being an early day game after a night game.

7-0 is going to be the hard part; no doubt in my mind that the Cards can lose 3 games from here on out. Asking for more than 3 is probably pushing it.

When was the last time Gomez went opposite field?

Answer: Never. That was his first career opposite field HR.

Can we please open this game up? I want to dream the impossible dream for at least one more day.

Also, assuming the Brewers hold on today, I am rooting for 5-1 and 2-4 because it seems a little more reasonable.

"Larry Walker settled in at first base after a one-out hit and took his lead. The next batter lined a ball to left center field. Walker whipped around second and was halfway to third when the leftfielder made a marvelous running catch. Walker’s instincts kicked in and he immediately slammed on the brakes and made a beeline for first, right past the mound and directly across the diamond. When Walker, standing on the bag, was tagged out for not retouching second base, his baseball education began in earnest."

He got the first out in the 6th, called for Kranitz, and they pulled him immediately.

I'm just listening to Uke, and Uke was shocked by it.

Rock and Brian think something was going on since the previous inning. It appears he was trying to pitch through the pain. Maldonado had noticed it, but Aramis Ramirez finally came in and got Wily pulled from the game. It's almost certainly an arm problem based on his reactions.

Edit--could be groin or arm, I'm not really sure after looking at the replays again.
