2018-09-28: Other MLB Games

It would be nice if the Cardinals showed something resembling a fight in them. They do realize they are still only 1 game out of the Wild Card, right?

Dumbest argument I’ve heard yet about Baez. He argued Yelich numbers mean less because he’s got more around him in the lineup. Said hitting between Cain and Aguilera make it easier for Yelich to put up numbers.

For one it’s AGUILAR, and for two take a glance at the Cubs lineup around Baez. Pretty good thump there too. Sure not realistic looking at team offensive stats.

You're forgetting how good Christina Aguilera was in July. If she never was injured we'd have this division lead +10.

I thought that it was Moose. I didn't say we haven't been lucky lately too.

Ahh right, it was the other 3B we were playing at the same time. Shaw was playing 3B over by first at the time and watched it fly away into RF.

If we can't win the division, a Dodgers/Rockies tie is probably a good thing to root for. Divisional tiebreaker game Monday with both teams hopefully leaving it all on the line and the loser headed to Milwaukee for the WC game the next day. Could be a big advantage.

Wainwright is a decent hitter but why were they not pinch hitting for him there? You have to act as if you're down 3-0 in a 7 game series or something here. This is your only chance and you have to take risks. Pickoff play made it moot but if they have to burn their bullpen after Waino to get some pinch hitters in there, so be it.

Question regarding wildcard...I noticed Kershaw is the probable starter tomorrow. Would he really start a potential wildcard game on 2 days rest?

I'd assume Walker Buehler/bullpen. Believe hes been their 2nd best pitcher, save Kershaw for 3 if necessary series playing.

Mike Schildt is probably a decent enough manager but he's a deer in the headlights in this last week.

Maybe it's inexperience and maybe it's panic, but you could tell ever since the early LOOGY move against Yelich the other day, he's in over his head right now.

Buehler is starting sunday fyi. I assume they'd either pull him back or he'd be 100% off limits. Especially being such a young arm.

Probably because he is a free agent after this year and he may even retire so they are going to give him every chance to go as deep as he can. I totally get it.

Baez is a human rusty gate in the wind so often, swinging at everything...it's impressive to me that the brewers managed to walk him close to 10 times - probably why they pitched him so well - don't throw strikes and let him get himself out.

I'm not sure if you were being serious there but that's insane. They need to try to win the game. You can celebrate his career later.

So the Cardinals are throwing in the towel?

Horrible showing for a team playing for their lives.

So that's the priority over a playoff race for them?

OOOOOO...they HBP Carpenter. Any chance that was intentional? Maybe light a bit of an FU spark?

Are we even sure he was actually hit?

I'm going by gameday, so if someone is watching you tell me. I'm also tracking the Cardinals in game thread and it seems he was legit hit. Yes...I really don't feel like doing work anymore today
