Not that I expected it, but I can see the break hasn't improved the umpires ability of calling of the strike zone.

If they don't want am automated zone them they need to improve.

Yelich has struck out his last three at bats.

Just being selected for the home run derby screws you up

You don’t even have to compete in it

Grandal has not really been successful at getting on base in front of Yelich. As a leadoff hitter his OBP is .333 (16/48) but since 3 of his hits have been HRs they don’t give Yelich anyone to drive in. His effective OBP in terms of putting someone on base for Yelich is just 13/48, or .271. Even a slumping Cain gets on base in front of Yelich as often than that. Since June 1 Cain’s OBP has been .310 with just one HR.

I’d rather have Grandal batting behind Yelich where he might be able to drive Yelich in and leave Cain (who rarely homers) in front of Yelich.

Wait, so you're not only not going to credit the HRs that Grandal hits to his OBP, you're actually going to penalize him for it? Yelich's OBP would drop to .227 if you do that with his HRs. That's how little sense that makes to do that.

Cain has 4 HRs leading off this year, shouldn't you do the same with his OBP then?

If you read the whole thread I was responding to a comment about getting on base for Yelich. HRs don’t put a man on base for Yelich. And, yes, I mentioned Cain’s 1 HR that he’s hit since June 1.

Right now I’d rather have Cain batting first than Grandal, who hasn’t been that successful as a leadoff hitter.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

His slump from before the break is continuing. His two K’s tonight were especially bad as he’s been missing hanging breaking balls.

1-2 fastball down the middle? That's neat.

He had gotten away with some really fat ones and sooner or later they will square one up.

Yelich is playing like Roy Hobbs after he starts dating Memo Paris.
