I wouldn't imagine there will be a ton of interest in Williams, but then again, I never thought guys like Deolis Guerra and Jacob Barnes would be claimed either. That just shows you how bad most teams' bullpen depth is. It did surprise me that Faria wasn't claimed, though.

 

But yes, Williams doesn't have enough service time to refuse a minor league assignment should be clear waivers. That could be one of the reasons why he was chosen.

Since Williams was in camp, I wonder if he's already thrown a couple BP sessions and just didn't look very good. Or maybe some of the other guys did look very good. Since camp has been open a few days, they have more information to go off of than they did a week ago.
