I think the idea was basically give yourself two timeouts so you don't have to go for the onside kick. I guess they haven't paid attention to how bad our special teams are though.

My guess is the main point behind the idea is that you're still on the before side of the 2 minute warning. So you want to score once before you have the free timeouts.
