Jackson Chourio is now 2 of 3 after roping his ninth double on his young season. This young man is so impressive. Hard to use enough superlatives to tell you what I see on a nightly basis.

Jakob Brustoski continues his successive scoreless outings coming off his rough start to his Low-A career. When Jakob is in the zone, he's nearly unhittable. This is a fantastic development for the Lefty. We're rooting for you!

Hey now! Brannon Jordan finishes the Mudcats 2-1 win with a punch out on a high heater. No errors for the 'Micro Brews' (Mudcats). Great stuff! It's never easy to re-calibrate off a weather delay. The 'Micro Brews' did it with aplomb.

Just another Joey Wiemer hit here. Joey rips a hard hit grounder into left field and he is the tying run aboard first base. Gabe Holt is also on second. Let's see if Felix Valerio can get hot after a rough day at the plate.

Well, Thomas Dillard did his job ripping a line drive to left field after Valerio hit into a fielder's choice. Wiemer scored with ease. What Felix did rounding third for Home is up to debate. It's hard to describe. He didn't slide. Michael Harris II (playing in LF tonight) threw a very accurate one-hop laser to home plate, rather he missed the base entirely...standing up...and proceeded to stand in the right batters box and then non-chalantly walk toward the dugout.? This would be one of those: "Well, dang." moments as an athlete. 5-4 Braves headed to the bottom of the seventh.

The Shuckers may be way up there in Southern League error totals, but, it certainly isn't due to the adept work of Felix Valerio. He is as solid as they come. He just saved a run and a baserunner for the ever-hittable (in 2022, at least) Lucas Erceg by sliding and snaring a grounder up the CF grass (first base side of second) and making an utterly improbable blind turn and throw to snag Lugbauer by roughly an inch. Felix is so damn good it hurts.

Terence Doston has made solid contact on three outs tonight. For his first outing at any level beyond ACL, he has to feel good. After his first strikeout, he shortened his swing. He's now hit two well-hit ropes to SS and now a well-hit shot to RF that was just a bit within reach. The Box Score won't tell the story. Proud of this young man. He showed up tonight! 5-4 into the bottom of the eighth.

We are headed to the top of the ninth inning and the Shuckers get the top of their order to try and overcome the 4-5 deficit. This has been a series of comebacks. Let's make it another!

The Shuckers can't overcome the deficit late as all three of Holt, Wiemer, and Valerio are quite overmatched by Braves' closer Justin Maese. Valerio strikes out on 3 consecutive change-ups in the dirt. Shuckers lose 5-4.

^^ Youngest player in the Carolina League

** Second youngest, Hendry Mendez, now has a 13 game on-base streak - including the game winning opposite field jack last night and the game-winning opposite field single tonight.

Can you say: I'm excite?!?
