Very curious.  In addition to running several spots down from a full roster, it seems like there were other ways to get there between possible 60-day IL moves and what seems like little need for Ray and Reyes on the 40-man.

Why in the world are they clearing all these 40-man spots? This is very odd roster construction if there isn't a bigger move afoot.

It would have to be a really big move because realistically they have six spots open with Cousins/Topa/Peralta all 60 day IL guys if needed.

On one hand Turang and Small are likely to fill 2 of those spots shortly, it's possible someone like Dahl or a pitcher they like could fill the 3rd. But it's weird to do it before you actually call those guys up

I'm as excited about Turang as anyone but why would they call him up or even put him on the 40 now? Nothing about his AAA numbers is eye popping and where would he even play?

Exactly. If they need a utility guy, just call up a utility guy. I doubt we see Turang unless Urias or Wong go down before Adames returns.
