Not too familiar with this guy. Looked him up. Interesting background. Looks like he pitched for a CC late (ages 21-23), joined the brewers after a year in Indy ball at 25 after school.

Why on earth would Milwaukee keep Kelley on the roster? At least see what Barker can do. Kelley had a chance & was completely overmatched. This makes zero sense … there is no explanation for Kelley remaining.

this is barker's second optional assignment since 2 may. he may be sent on three more optional assignments this year before having to be exposed to waivers.

luke barker designated for assignment. the brewers have seven days to put barker on release or outright waivers (unless they managed to trade him just before today's deadline). if he clears outright waivers, he will be forced to accept the minor league assignment.
