If Burnes continues this level of starts to the end of the season how much does it effect his value as a trade piece?

It may be enough they are forced to hang on to him till the all star break next year in hopes that he turns it around.

The McCutchen thing is crazy. The only explanation is that the Brewers had to guarantee that he was going to play this much to get him to come. Why I don't know since he was sitting at home when they got him. Nothing else make sense on a baseball level. Good thing we had the gm on and we asked him nothing related to the mystery of the personnel problems this year.

.944 Hiura vs righties…. Hardly plays.

Your "heart" for Hiura is pitiful, and I'm not the only one on here who feels that way about him.

There is no explanation or we would have heard it by now… they like MC more. 680 is better than Hiura vs. righties according to the manager.
Would be really interesting if Hiura was treated like a DH. Bat him 7 or 8 vs righties. EVERY TIME. Have Sal on the team playing somewhere. McCutchen can fill Cain’s old role and sit the bench or spot start vs lefties.

In addition to putting the team in a big hole tonight, Burnes’ short, ineffective start is going to make tomorrow’s bullpen game tougher to navigate.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Since the all start break you could pretty much mix and match all our pitchers other than woodruff.   Just a bunch of blah blah blah garbage

Peralta since the ASB had gone 1-1 with a 2.27 ERA, so I wouldn’t say he’s been garbage, though his FIP has been substantially higher (4.33) because of the 4 home runs allowed in only 31 innings, and a SO/BB of just over 2.

He’s back on the DL again, so clearly health has been a major factor in his inconsistency.

This time a year ago we thought Urias was part of the core. Now he has been banished. My scorecard says the only locks to return next year are Yelich duh.. Rowdy and Adames. I'm guessing Turang plays 2nd and Frelick plays center.

He should probably finish top 6 in Cy Young voting for the 3rd consecutive year, has a WHIP under 1 and may be under a 3 ERA for the 3rd consecutive inning and has already blown by his career high for innings and is pushing 200 this season.

If they shopped him immediately this offseason, they'd have no shortage of takers willing to pay high prices.

I think we just need to accept that the possibility of making the playoffs has vanished, and start looking towards next year. I hate it, but a whole slew of changes need to be made, so all the better to get started immediately.

I don’t know how some of these issues get fixed without big boss man opening up the checkbook to up our salary. But that’s not happening with attendance down. We’re about 5,500 down per game since 2019.

As long as your not the only one,.., glad to know. Don’t go on that ledge by yourself.

.944 is bad then against righties? Guy should literally not play against them so McCutchen can get his hacks then. And it has nothing to do with defense.

You have nothing.

Missed it, how did Brewers get 2 runs?

Home run by Tellez off a Met reliever.

Scherzer was perfect through 6 with 9 Ks.

I certainly would have no problem parting with him if the price was respectable.

I dont see the Cardinals getting past the Mets or Braves or Dodgers.

I agree. They don’t have the pitching.

The Dodgers staff can run circles around them, and that’s with Bauer in perpetual limbo.

So if he finishes 7th in cy young voting his trade value will go down.    Or even 8th

I would.
Look, he’s had a poor second half.  but this team doesn’t have the resources to sell off the few blue chip players they do have, and if Burnes is dealt, you know it’s going to be for prospects that might arrive in 2-3 years.

I’m tired of playing kick the can down the road. We’re perpetually playing for “next year”.

Keep the big three, and hope they can stay healthy. Continue t develop Ashby. And the defense has to be improved. That’s been a real letdown this year.

And we need somebody besides Yelich that can get on base.
