We simply can’t afford to, for the third time in a row, fail to take advantage of the Phillies losing.

As much as people are pessimistic about our team…the Phillies have really sucked lately. Them losing their first two games of their road trip is a decent sign they probably won’t pop off a great record the rest of the way.

I guess I get giving guys the day, but aren't the Cardinals off tomorrow? If it were me, I'd want to do all I could to avoid facing a division rival in the playoffs. Especially one that's basically played you to a dead heat over 19 games, one that's hit Wainwright well, and one that's got a couple three dangerous pitchers they can start against you....

No. Counsell made the right decision because Hiura is highly likely to strike out. If he does that, then a double play the next batter leaves you with nothing.
