I also think it's wrong to assume Houston is coasting.

The answer to this will come next week when we see how they handle their lineups and pitchers. Will they use their regular starting pitchers and let them go as deep into games as they would otherwise? Will they play their best position players every day like they would if they hadn’t already sewn up the #1 seed in the AL?

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Pos players will get time off, for sure. Starters will be kept on whatever sked they're already on, and probably will depart after X number of pitches. I guess we just have different definitions of coasting. The people out there will be trying to win games, and thanks to the infinite wisdom of MLB there won't be many to choose from who won't be on the post-season roster.

Remember the lineup for the Cubs in the next-to-last game of 2008? Not as easy to do that nowadays. But you're right, folks will certainly get some time off.

Again, I majored in astronomy, so I think I would know the earth's shape. You can argue about whether such a thing as "perfectly round" exists, but the earth is not perfectly round. It is an ellipsoid/spheroid.

your fundamental error is that you equate round with circular or spheric. It's not. It's only approximately so.
This is 100% semantics, and in semantics you need to go back to the definitions of the words.

With only 28 man active rosters, you can't sit everyone like you could when there were 40 man active rosters.

The need to win all their games and  hope the Nats can still a game

They can probably lose one and still get in the playoffs.

Yeah, that's what I'm sayin'.

Also, no one seems to bring up Philly being on the road from here on out, still having to squeeze in a doubleheader before travelling to Houston, while we finish at home. Admittedly that would be more of a positive if we played better in front of the friendlies.

Padres lose again and face Cease tomorrow. If we win we could be 1 (effectively 2) games behind San Diego with 4 games left. Really feels like we need to win out if we want to make the playoffs.

Yep, this certainly proved something that we all knew.

6 seasons. That mutual option isn't happening. Also, Yelich can DH.

ok, SIX seasons, not 7.

We see what we have in Yelich now, imagine where he'll be 3 years from now? Imagine that crap as our DH?

Just gross.

Wow! What a click you guys are! This is definitely a bad place to post anything! How many members? Like 5 or 10. What a dumb site, moving on to one with more of a general consensus!

Don't let the door hit you in the ass.

No, apparently you are because you feel the need to stir up an old conversation when you already replied to that post last night. I chose to ignore it because this is a baseball site, and I didn't feel the need to debate the matter further.
