Our first minor league game of the day is underway, with RF Jace Avina singling in CF Luis Lara (walk, SB) for a 1-0 Carolina 1st inning lead.

The Shuckers copy the Mudcats’ playbook and grab a 1st inning lead as well, Zavier Warren signaling in Jackson Chourio (reached on error). 1-0 Biloxi after one inning.

The Tyler Woessner that has showed up today looks like a guy who is going to be in the MLB someday. FB is sitting 95-97 at the top of the zone. Changeup, slider, curveball all have flashed today. He's looked absolutely filthy.

Sadly, James Meeker just had his worst outing ever: 6 earned runs in 2 innings of work, including 3 homers. 8-1 Pensacola leads in the 5th inning.

Man this Down East, Carolina first half race is bonkers. Down East takes their fifth in a row at first place Columbia. Mudcats lead 7-1 looking for their 7th straight while only protecting a 1/2 game lead.

Whewwwww

Speaking of which, the Mudcats are dominating this series but CF Guy Lipscomb has been ultra impressive for Lychburg. Heck of a 5th Rd pick for the Guardians last year. He grabs his 34th SB today.

Think that will probably be it for Woessner. 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 SO. 89 pitches, 60 for strikes. His most impressive outing of the season.

Some nice relief work from Brannon Jordan and Justin King who combined to get 5 of the final 7 outs via K.

With the win tonight, Wisconsin guarantees their first series win since the first 6 game series of the season. They are starting to play some good baseball.

Anyone catch why Eric Brown Jr. left early?

Saw in the play log he singled, stole second then came around to score on a Joe Gray Jr. single in the bottom of the 5th before being replaced in the field top of 6th.

The single was kind of a jam shot to right field and he was shaking out his thumb in clear discomfort. Then on the SB the ball got by the Peoria SS and hit Brown in the groin area.

Hopefully it was just precautionary and not something that will cause him to hit the IL or miss time.

That's absolutely wild. I think this might be a first?

Yeah, this was the kind of scenario I was imagining when in a different thread, I suggested they make the 40-man larger.
