The only really hard hit ball of his outing was the linedrive single he just surrendered to LF. 106 off the bat. Very well hit. That's literally it.

AND, he just struck out OF Jerar Encarnacion for the 3rd time today. He probably has the best pop of all the Jumbo Shrimp bats. That was just literally an extremely tough luck inning. Manager Rick Sweet understood what was going on. The bullpen was silent. Nobody up. It was ridiculous.

Even with a short porch those balls are carrying a ridiculous amount. 90 EV balls should never be going out of the park.

The wind shifted, again tough luck, out to LF before that inning. Previously, as you might imagine, it had been blowing out to RF. Weird day in Jacksonville. But, man, if I'm a pitcher I hate pitching that park. It's ridiculous.

3 super cheap HR in the game today. Winker's 94 EV bomb and Jacksonville's 2 90 EV bombs.

Winker's HR also went a whopping 354 feet. His was definitely the better of the 3, however. It was at least an actual liner. 😅I almost spit out my drink when I heard the distance when I stood up.

Holy hyeck! 1B Noah Campbell just smashed his 2nd HR deeeeeep over the wall in RF. Wowsers. That was a 3-run jack. The Sounds have now scored in every inning. Wow. 11-4. Noah! Have. A. GAME! That ball almost left the ballpark - it hit the top rows of the cheap seats. Noah. My baseball gods you're beautiful in a Sounds uni.

Noah Campbell just absolutely crushed one. There's no statcast data on it right now and I'm praying we get it eventually because that was a bomb.

Gasser emphatically reminds us: Absolutely toss that 5th inning in the trash. K, weak pop fly to shallow CF, jam shot weak pop out to Campbell at 1B. He's in line to possibly go all 7 here. Deservedly so. Other than two "Well, what happened there?" walks he's been fantastic. 6 K on the day. Four ridiculously cheap earned runs.

The Low-A Mudcats also play a doubleheader today, with their games at home against Fayetteville. 20-year old RHP Quinton Low (2.16 ERA with 15 Ks in 8.1 IP) starts the opening game. 1B Jesus Chirinos returns to the lineup for the first time since leaving last Thursday’s contest early.

Yes Sirs! Gasser grabs the first CG from a Sounds starter in 2023. Sure it's 7 IP. Who cares? This was the first CG since August 21st of last year when RHP Tyler Herb (my sweet Prince! Get well!) did it against these same Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. Fantastic end to the double-header.

Really awesome to see this after Campbell’s initial struggles with the promotion to AAA. His confidence has likely done a 180 from where it was just a week ago. Maybe he’s proving he belongs, similar to Weston Wilson in 2021. Now we just need Jon Singleton to find that next gear where he’s situated.

As you know, I am an emphatic Big Jon believer. Let's be patient. Extremely small sample size. We know he has everything else we need - great glove, great hands, great mind. He'll get this. We just need to give him the opportunity.

High-A Wisconsin targets a second win at West Michigan, but will have to do it without Willy Adames or Eric Brown Jr. apparently. RHP Cameron Wagoner (8.27 ERA in 37 IP) hopefully turned a corner in his last start (5 IP, 2 R). CF Joe Gray Jr. has hit safely in 7 of his last 8 games.

Really feels like things are coming together for Gasser. The results don't exactly scream great, but I think he's pitched very well in his last 4 starts. Tonight he was a couple infield singles and 90 EV HR away from a dominant start.

We're delayed in Carolina off the bat. Ruh roh. This just in: BIG fan of Mudcats announcer, Greg Young:

I'd really love for Greg to get a chance to call Brewers games someday. He's a great listen.

He's fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. I'm a huge fan. We are truly blessed as Brewers Minor League fans. We have great announcers at every level. I was truly sad to see Garrett Greene go to Sugar Land but Javik Blake has done a really nice job in every facet. Announcers are a big deal to everyday watchers.

I cringe these days when I randomly check into a Bucks game and have to suffer through some of their new on air peoples. I won't name names but, man, there is a mighty struggle to find anything remotely close to Paschke and McGlocklin. Thank the basketball gods we have Marques in the mix. That's all I'll say about that.

Am I remembering incorrectly, or did Campbell get a last minute promotion to Biloxi because of injury last season and played well enough where he never ended up going back down to Wisconsin. Maybe history repeats itself.

The mud is wet but the tarp is off and we're warming up in Zebulon. Let's hope the weather will allow both games tonight. I'm here for it. It's a ridiculous 92 scorching degrees F in my mountain valley. Not a cloud in the sky. Piercing heat at my altitude. Gimme the baseball! Hiding from everything.

You are indeed remembering incorrectly. Campbell actually spent the entire season in Biloxi. You might be crossing streams with the affiliated demise (for now) of INF Ashton McGee who was injured Game 1 and never recovered. THAT led to the break-out of Cam Devanney.

EDIT to Add: Oh wait, I am now reading your post accurately. Yes, he was last-minute promoted during the first week of the season. He was initially assigned to Wisconsin a few days before the sudden promotion. And, as you astutely point out, continued to perform and never was sent back down. Apologies. I can't remember, off the top of my head, if it had anything to do with an injury - did it have anything to do with a spot opening up when the Crew traded INF Hayden Cantrelle? That was a long time ago in Minor League terms😅

AA Biloxi needs a win in Mississippi today to even the series 1-1. RHP Christian Mejias (5.40 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 11.4 K/9 in 45 IP) gets the start tonight and CF Jackson Chourio’s on a decent 10-game stretch (1.050 OPS in 45 PAs).

I've said INF Gregory Barrios has come on in the past month. I wasn't kidding: over his last 10 games he is hitting 0.325 with an 0.811 OPS. That's fantastic.
