I think it's good that he went down after a good game - that way he goes down with some confidence, knowing that he just needs to make a few small adjustments.

We get another year of Turang with the move too.
His defense alone brings him up later this fall, but with all the injuries I expect him back in a few days.

That is quite the optimistic outlook to be concerned with the amount of control for a guy that was the 5th worst hitter in major league baseball before being sent down Not saying I don't think he can't eventually be a starting 2B, but his first showing was pretty dang horrid. Hopefully he looks a little more up to the challenge next time.

He has the baserunning and defense to carry him a bit...but he will have to be way better with the bat either way.

Would Tyrone Taylor be one of the people who was worse than him this year?

He'll be back, I just don't know if it'll be a few days.

I think he kinda forgot "who he was" as a hitter & got out of his element. Every other aspect of his game is much more than good enough to carry a mediocre-to-average bat, which I think is his floor. He'll be a part of this moving forward.

How is a mediocre to average bat his floor?  His floor is a terrible hitter who doesn't have the power to put any fear in a pitcher to not be around the zone and let him weakly hit the ball around the field which will translate into outs more often than not.

Maybe give him more than 2 months into his career? Agree to disagree.

He's been an average hitter in the minors.  Now he's facing better pitching, it would be a win if he managed to be a mediocre to average major league hitter.  That's certainly not his floor, that's much more likely to be his ceiling.

Looking at his overall minor league offensive #s, yeah. Average. But he also had his best individual year last season, in his first year in AAA. At age 22. I wouldn't pin a label on him just yet.

Either way, if he turns out to be an average hitter, it certainly WOULD be a win, given what he does with the glove & on the bases.

If he could be slightly less than average at the plate he'd have value offensively because he can steal bases. With the new rules, he potentially could have 40+ steals in a season. But that means getting on base at better than a .300 clip

I think in a perfect world, he would have started the year at AAA.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Good points. AFA the last one is concerned though, I hear what you're saying w/regards to him getting another one or two hundred ABs down there. But defensively, if he was in Nashville all this time his glove being absent might've cost us a couple games. Tough call.

It was via Fangraphs, I made the cutoff near his amount of PAs…so Taylor with less than half of his wouldn’t have shown up.

The worst are Segura, Abreu, Tony Kemp, Baez, and Eric Haase…Turang is #6 now for 170+ PAs. Detroit has two of those Top 5 (yikes).
