Ah yes the games of summer: the DSL Dos just scored 5 in the first. No hits.

A DSL special:

walk, walk, hbp, wild pitch, walk, error, wild pitch, hbp, wild pitch, walk, line out, wild pitch, walk, K, fly out.

How about those DSL Dos?! They win their second in a row by a 15-0 margin! Woot woot.

They outhit the Braves 14-2. They scored runs in the first six innings book-ended by 5-spots.

It's a very FULL Box Score. Enjoy!

Lots of talent showing in the early going with both of the DSL teams and their ACL team. The IFA classes the last 4 years have deepened the bottom of this system big-time, as well as added extreme talent like Quero-Chourio-Lara-Guilarte and Severino.

This last class, at least early on looks extra special with some of the pitching, along with the 3 high-bonus positionals. Di Turi, Ereu and Rodriguez all off to good starts. Hope Ereu’s absence isn’t serious and he can get back in the lineup asap.

RHP Will Rudy and the Low-A Mudcats strive for a 3rd straight win and 3-2 series lead in Augusta. 18-year old CF Luis Lara has raised his OPS to .855 with 25 BB and 14 Ks in 143 PAs.

Extremely Small Sample Alert:

Taking notice of OF Duncan Garcia. He's stacking days. 2-for-2, 1 2B, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 Sac, 1 SB. After two years of improving play in the DSL, he has hit the ground running in the early going of ACL play. 20 AB's, yes but 20 very good AB's.

AA Biloxi is tied 2-2 in their series in Montgomery, with RHP Tobias Myers (5.70 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 11.1 K/9 in 53.2 IP) making tonight’s start. 24-year old 2B/SS Freddy Zamora is putting together a respectable season: .255 AVG, .354 OBP, .399 SLG.

Will be incorporated into Sunday AM's Link Report:

Final: DSL Brewers #1 Squad 6, DSL Angels 5

Box Score / Game Log

The Uno boys used a four-run 2nd and two-run 7th to grab a 6-1 lead, then needed every bit of that advantage, hanging on during a four-run Halos 8th.

In that rough 8th, all four runs against older 2nd-year pro RHP Roman Perez, who turns 23 in October, were unearned, but Perez didn't help his own cause in the frame.

On brighter notes (it was a win, after all), 18-year-old rookie RHP Esmir Suarez's second career start was strong - his debut one week ago, was hardly a disaster, but this was definitely an improvement. It's always interesting to see which arms the organization identifies for starting roles.

16-year-old Nicaraguan RHP Saul Sanchez tossed two scoreless, hitless innings, walking just one.

Until true surprises emerge, it's important that the high-bonus priority signings perform well. 17-year-old RF Yophery Rodriguez doubled, singled, walked twice, and now sports a very healthy .980 OPS.

But fellow top signing SS Kevin Ereu has not played since Monday when he exited after five innings for no obvious apparent game log reason. That's not ideal.

My favorite early-season statistical oddity in the rookie leagues - 17-year-old Dominican infielder Tyler Rodriguez sports a .000/.500/.000 line. He's 0-for-8, with five walks, four HBP, and a sacrifice fly.

17-year-old Eduardo Charles, a RH bat listed as a shortstop, is on the DSL 1 roster but has yet to debut.

High-A Wisconsin and Great Lakes have played 3 straight 1-run games and the series is tied 2-2. RHP Tyler Woessner (2.38 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 8.6 K/9 in 56.2 IP) gets the big start tonight. 1B/C/OF Alex Hall leads the team with a .725 OPS.

AAA Nashville seeks a 5th straight win at home against Gwinnett. RHP Janson Junk (4.30 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 5.7 K/9 in 55.2IP). C Alex Jackson (.901 OPS in 118 PAs) has the highest OPS in the lineup.

Woessner dominating through 3 innings. 0 H, 1 BB, 4 SO and all of the contact has lead to routine outs.

And the 4th hasn't started well. Walk, Double, Single. No outs runners on the corners and it's a tied game.

Jesus Chirinos is the worst defensive 1B I have ever seen. This dude has cost his team at least a dozen runs this season with bad defense at 1B.

When Woessner is up in the 94-96 range with his FB in the early innings, he is basically unhittable but later in his outings when he's in the lower 90's he gets hit around a bit if the command isn't on point. The command has not been on point in the 4th today which has lead to a lot of good contact against him.

Wow Mudcats 3B coach (whoever they are) with a very bad send. 6-6 game in the 8th inning with 1 out and Lara due up and the 3B coach sends A. Perez on a double by Barrios. Perez was out by about 7-8ft.

With 1 out and your best hitter who rarely ever strikes out due up, you cannot make that send.

Sal Frelick might be back. Just ripped a 101 EV HR almost 400ft to RF. He's 2-2 with a 2B, HR, and BB tonight. Also is playing RF.

That started at Wisconsin, my friend. I saw he had only his 2nd error of the season today. I had to double take. He has, as you say, cost all the teams many many runs. And I see, now, he also grabbed his third error of the day. Yikes. He must have been pulled after that? Goodness. No bueno.

Really nice to see INF Luke Adams see success when his bat hits the ball. I've been saying: it's a matter of time. And, if and when this continues we are going to see many jumps on the League Leaderboard(s). 3-for-3, 1 2B, 2 R, 2 BB, 0 K. OPS up to 0.834. BA up to 0.220. Let's go, young man!

His double was pretty hilarious. Hit a chopper so hard that it bounced over the 3B head and went down the LF line for a double. He was due for a bit of BABIP luck though.

INF Cam Devanney is healthy and feeling really good. 3-for-3, 2 2B, 2 R, 1 RBI. BA back up to 0.252. OPS up to 0.777 after his slow start in his return from the shelf. This a game removed from his game-winning two-run jack. You LOVE to see it.

I will say, for as much as we all love Frelick (and, rightfully so)...you would think he'd be better as a base stealer. I would argue, he was caught stealing last night (he was called safe). He is CS tonight and also picked off 1B. Great to see the better EV and harder contact - something we've grown accustomed to - but, I would expect better base running and better jumps. He now only has 5 SB to 3 CS and now the PO. That's not a very savory line.

Noah Campbell you sexy beast. RHP TJ Shook gave up a 1-0 deep fly oppo high off the wall in LF (it's a very high wall. The yellow pad atop the railing looks to be 20 feet up). That ball popped up and sat at the base of the wall. Campbell scooped it up and threw a bomb direct to Black at 3B who laid the tag just in time. They get out one the long hard way. 4-4 Bottom of the 8th. That was a huge play. AND, that ball was off the bat of old Brewer Tristan Peters - who also has homered tonight. Whew. Have a game, Tristan. Hopefully, the Shuckers will give us a replay of that toss. It was something. Shuck finished the inning with a K after C Jeferson Quero threw out the always dangerous Biscuit Mason Auer who was caught for only the 4th time in 2023 after 26 successful SB. Huge throw by Quero and he had him by 3 feet.
