Watched some YouTube of Misiorowski…. Have to come away just impressed. Tall and long, lanky and thin. A body you would expect to gain another 25 pounds of muscle. Throwing high 90s with above avg control. Interested in what others think… feels like a Strasberg type of talent coming up. His starts could turn into must see stuff.

I'm not a biomechanics expert by any means but the one thing that worries me is that it looks like he's gonna have elbow trouble at some point.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

What is your reasoning?

Congratulations to RHP Nick Merkel. A very under-the-radar fantastic season was happening in Low-A - his best work coming in the last month. My neighbor from down in Spokane now gets the opportunity to fine-tune his wares at High-A Wisconsin:

Wisconsin hosts Athletics’ affiliate Lansing this week, with top pitching prospect RHP Jacob Misiorowski (2.31 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, 14.4 K/9 in 35 IP) making his home debut in High-A ball. 2B Robert Moore (.796 OPS in 69 PAs) is having his best month of 2023 thus far.

Boy, EBJ still on the sidelines. No injury designation. I miss seeing him play. Get healthy and come back to the baseball diamond, young man.

The Low-A Mudcats host Guardians’ affiliate Lynchburg this week and it is indeed RHP Logan Henderson (4.12 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 11.4 K/9 in 19.2 IP) who starts the series opener. 18-year old CF Luis Lara has an extraordinary 1.127 OPS in 43 PAs thus far in June.

Looks like EBJ might be back as soon as tomorrow.

AA Biloxi is also home this week, hosting Reds’ affiliate Chattanooga. The team’s mystery starter has now been revealed as rehabbing RHP Jason Alexander. DH/C Wes Clarke has posted an impressive .939 OPS through 55 PAs thus far in June.

Rounding out the full season affiliates, AAA Nashville hosts Orioles’ affiliate Norfolk this week. RHP Caleb Boushley (4.57 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 7.5 K/9 in 61 IP) is something of a surprise starter (where’s Pannone?). Sunday’s walk-off hero LF Eddy Alvarez is sporting an 1.148 OPS in 54 PAs this month.

Guilarte too! I know he was placed on the IL but there’s been absolutely no word on what he’s dealing with, timeframe for return, etc.

This is common in the lower levels, unfortunately. We often don't hear of things until well after they are shelved. At this point, we just hope he returns some time in the early second half (first half ends in two days).

Alexander gets the K and ground out to end the damage. Lotta weak contact in that inning. A classic Zamora throwing error. All-in-all a fine Double-A inning.

Boy Chourio gets the classic 107 mph liner snagged by a leaping SS. That ball had some pop. Trust the process on that one. Tip your cap. Keep swinging.

INF Tyler Black showcases that sneaky speed beating out a grounder to SS by an ant's eyelash. He then swipes 2B and grabs his 38th SB in 53 games. Folks...this is a historic season we are witnessing. He is now alone in 2nd place for the Shuckers single-season steals record. Amazing stuff.

He has to be already close to breaking some SB records. This is ridiculous.

Oh yes. I believe, off the top of my head (?) He's 15 back of either OF Jonny Davis or Corey Ray. It's one of those two. The thing is, those two did it in near a full Double-A season of games. I just hope Black gets the chance to break it before they promote him!😅
