Tigers Eduardo Rodriguez invokes no trade clause in a deal with the Dodgers!

Posted

"Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Dodgers and Tigers had agreed to a deal for Eduardo Rodriguez, but the left-hander invoked his no-trade clause and the deal is now dead.
Wow. The 30-year-old southpaw has a list of 10 teams that he must approve a trade to, and the Dodgers were on his list. It’s unclear if he demanded any sort of extra compensation to waive the clause, or if he flat out didn’t want to go to the Dodgers. He remains one of the top available arms in a pitching-hungry market though, and there’s still an hour remaining for the Tigers to shop him elsewhere."

Really curious why he cancelled on the Dodgers of all teams.  I hope there is more to this story reported.

Believe he already left the Tigers for the month of June dealing with some marital strife, probably didn’t want further exasperate whatever’s been going on,

I wouldn't want to upend my life for 2 months either if I had a say in the matter.

It was his contractual right, bargained by his agent, not to be traded to the Dodgers. To me that's the only explanation he owes.
