I posted this elsewhere but Nashville has actually played themselves into a 2nd half playoff race. They are 2 GB right now and have been playing extremely well lately.

I believe just about every team is in contention for a playoff spot with the exception of Wisconsin maybe?

It probably won't happen, but I suggest that we promote SS Eric Brown Jr. to AA:

  • Lineups are too imbalanced at the moment: AA Biloxi: 12 position players (just 5 infielders) + 16 pitchers; High-A Wisconsin: 15 position players (8 infielders) + 15 pitchers
  • Brown will already be 23 in December, so might as well get a taste of AA now before being a fixture there next season
  • Brown's game is speed, defense and contact hitting, so he shouldn't struggle too much when moved up
  • Moving him up will free up immediate playing time for INFs Eduardo Garcia, Ben Metzinger, Jheremy Vargas and Jose Acosta, with Garcia and Robert Moore sharing shortstop duties at Wisconsin to close out this season

If Carolina's going to make the playoffs, it certainly helps to have 1B Jesus Chirinos around. His 2nd inning solo homer gives the good guys a 1-0 lead.

9-up, 9-down for Stripers starter Michael Soroka against Nashville. We appear to have our hands full in this game, trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 3rd inning.

This to me is what is exciting about Black…….he hasn’t gone on any kind of hot streak yet at AAA but he finds a way to get on base

Yeah he reminds me of Frelick. Just has a knack for getting on base.

Nashville wins 7-3 with Jahmai Jones (2-4, 2B, BB), Owen Miller (2-4, 2B), Tyler Black (2-5) and Payton Henry (1-3, BB) all reaching multiple times.

Gasser gave up 3 R over 6 IP before Jason Alexander, Ethan Small and JB Bukauskas threw a scoreless frame each to close it out.

Biloxi falls 6-4 with Isaac Collins (0-3, BBx2), Jeferson Quero (1-5, 2B), Wes Clarke (2-4, BB), Freddy Zamora (2-3, BB) and Ernesto Martinez (3-4, 2B) having the big days on offense.

Best pitching line in the box was James Meeker giving up 1 R over 4.1 relief IP with 4 H | 1 BB | 1 K.

TRats trailing 8-2 in the 8th.

Luis Lara (2-4, SB, CS), Brock Wilken (1-3, 2B) and Jheremy Vargas (2-2, BB) having the best days with the bats.

Teheran went 3 IP | 1 R | 3 H | 0 BB | 4 K in his rehab start.

Carolina will need the crookedest of numbers bottom of nine to come back from this one, trailing 12-4.

Patricio Aquino worked around 9 H to only allow 1 R over 5 IP with 0 BB and 4 K before the bullpen blew things up.

Dylan O’Rae (1-3, HBP, SB), Jadher Areinamo (1-3, BB), Tayden Hall (1-4, 2B), Jesus Chirinos (1-3, HR, HBP) and Jace Avina (2-4, 2B) did what they could.

After an incredible amount of work over months and months. the Mudcats bullpen is suddenly fragile as an eggshell. 11 runs allowed over the final 3 IP. Wehrle allowed 7 H over 2 IP and Jeison Pena regressed again. Sigh. They are making their playoff push very very hard and are suddenly in jeopardy of another late season collapse. Gotta find that resolve to end the drought.

Biloxi and Carolina both in jeopardy of blowing their playoff leads. Meanwhile Nashville is suddenly 1 game back of the IL lead.

Josh Timmerman (3 IP | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K) and Osbriel Mogollon (4 IP | 2 H | 1 BB | 5 K) each had scoreless outings for the ACL crew.

Justin Yeager gave up an unearned in the 8th on a Pratt throwing error followed by a ground rule double.

Bayden Root on to try and close out the  2-1 Brewers lead.

Root gets the first 2 hitters to strikeout then gives up back to back singles. Runners on the corner with 2 outs. 2-1 ACL Brewers still
