He's not even the second coming of Mike Caldwell or Billy Travers or Mike McClure.

Let's see how many of you Young bucks recognize those names.

I remember all those lefties!

Mike Caldwell was a Reggie Jackson murderer!

McClure a nifty lefty reliever who later became a pitching coach.

Travers had his moments with us, too.  I don't remember anything outstanding about him, though.

I agree

There must be another arm in Nashville to take his roster spot

For sure.  Andrews and Small are both acceptable.  Lauer would work as well.  There's three better lefty options.

Those were three very good pitchers

I swear there were times when McClure would walk guys just so he could pick them off first.

Caldwell would have won a CY if not for the year that Louisiana Lighting had

Billy Travers was an all-star in 1976 with 15 wins and a 2.81 ERA. Opening day starter in 1977.  Alex Grammas ( remember him?) let him throw 155 pitches late in 1977 which probably led to his 2nd TJ surgery. Under George Bamberger he had a 12-11 record with a 4.41 ERA in 1978, 14-8 with a 3.89 ERA  in 1979 and 12-6 with an 3.91 ERA in 1980. He signed with the Angles as a FA in 1981 and in his 4th game he left after one batter. They found calcium deposits in his elbow and had another elbow surgery to remove those deposits that off-season. In 2014 he was named as an inaugural inductee to the Brewers Wall of Honor. He  was one of the first Brewer successful minor league starting pitchers, but too many elbow injuries waylaid a successful career.

In senior league, if a pitcher was struggling to throw strikes, our coach would have the whole team take a strike. Chafin is approaching take two strikes territory

I played senior men's baseball in the 90s in Madison and I'm pretty sure Ray Searage or another Lefty that was once a brewer played in that League and I know I got to face Vern Gieshert who briefly pitched for the angels in 1969. Great guy.

Pretty wide range of ability played in that League from guys who were 45 mph curveballs to guys that were reasonably good division 2 ball players and still could play at a pretty high level.
