Fri. 9/15 - Do-or-Dies: Mudcats Look to Advance to Finals, Shuckers on the Precipice

Figueroa on to replace Galindez in the 4th and he gets a 1-2-3 inning with 2 strikeouts. To the 5th we head still 2-0 Wood Ducks.

After the Warren HR, Ethan Murray walked, Isaac Collins hit a double down the RF line, then Chourio drive Murray in with a line drive over the SS head with the infield in. 5-0 Biloxi with runners on the corner and 1 out still in the 2nd.

Chourio heads to 2nd and gets caught stealing but Collins scores in the process. 6-0 Biloxi.

Carolina goes down 1-2-3 in the 5th. Through 5 innings they have 1 single, 1 BB, and Adams reached on an error. Getting late now.

Figueroa gets another 1-2-3 inning in the 5th. It's still 2-0 Wood Ducks.

O'Rae walks to open the 6th then Areinamo gets his first hit of the series! 1st and 2nd with 0 outs for Luke Adams.

OF Chris Roller hit his second homer of the game for Nashville, who lead 5-0 in the 5th inning. He’ll be a free agent this offseason, who we’d likely try to re-sign.

LHP Eric Lauer entered in the 3rd inning, but his velocity has topped out at 92.5mph thus far. He’s getting outs today, but I’m not sure he’s the answer for Chafin’s struggles.

Mudcats don't get a run. Adames chased up 2-0 and then later hit into a FC. Sibrian grounded out to 3B and Baez struck out. Mudcats have 3 innings now to make up the 2-0 deficit.

Offense could have used Chirinos (injured) there. Need to keep it 2-0, then have Avina to come through in the 7th inning.

Mudcats go down 1-2-3 in the 7th. Looks like they are going to go out with a whimper at this point.

Brian Fitzpatrick in to pitch the 7th. He walks the first 2 hitters and then gives up a bloop. Thankfully there was an out on the basepaths so he at least got one out, but he's getting pulled after 3 batters.

Costello comes in for the Mudcats and gets a GIDP to get out of the inning with no damage. 2-0 Wood Ducks as we enter the 8th.

Wilken with a single and advances to 2B on a misplay in CF then Clarke hits a 2-run HR. It's 8-1 Biloxi as we enter the 6th.

C Wes Clarke hit his 26th homer for Biloxi, a 2-run shot to push the lead to 8-1 in the 5th inning. That pushes him past Willy Adames for the franchise lead in 2023. Willy - go homer against the Nationals.

Castillo and O'Rae walk to lead off the 8th inning. Runners on 1st and 2nd with 0 outs and Areinamo, Adams, and Sibrian due up. Now's the chance....and Areinamo takes a pitch clock violation before he even sees a pitch.

Eric Lauer got up to 92.6 last inning, now 92.8 and 93.8 in his 4th inning of work. Allowed 6 hits and 1 run, no walks, 3 Ks. Sounds lead 5-1 going into the 7th inning.

Areinamo grounds in a double play. He's now 1-12 in the series with multiple defensive miscues. The Mudcats MVP has had a playoff series to forget.

LUKE ADAMS WITH A 2-RUN HR!!! A NO DOUBTER TO CF! WE HAVE A TIE GAME!

Luke Adams homered!! Woo hoo!!! 2-run shot and we’re tied in the 8th inning!!!

Sibrian singles on a line drive and Baez reaches on an infield hit/error (don't know the ruling). Tayden Hall up to the plate with the go ahead run at 2B.

Hall grounds out to the SS. We head to the bottom of the 8th tied 2-2. I imagine Costello will still be on the mound.

Costello walks the leadoff hitter on 5 pitches. Wood Ducks go ahead run on 1st and Sibrian has had issues throwing the ball down to 2B tonight.

The leadoff walk proves no problem for Costello who gets 2 lazy fly balls to the OF and a strikeout. We head to the 9th tied 2-2.

Mudcats get absolutely shut down in the top of the 9th with the side striking out. Need this one to go to extras. (Really dumb the Manfred runner could end up deciding a playoff series)
