Edit to add a tangential point:  I also think that once or twice, early in the game, a Badger needs to LAY OUT the shooter. I believe one of the reasons that the Badgers have been so poor on 3 pt. defense is that the other team KNOWS there is no threat to block their shot attempt. The Badgers play physically in the post, they need to take a foul here and there on jump shooters that are getting too comfortable.

Big picture, I thought UWs' defense vs Buie was "good enough" after they seemed averse to guarding him in the opening minutes, and the defense vs everyone else was very impressive. And if anyone wants to point out Buie not being 100% after Wahl rolled over him, well, I agree. He usually gets into the lane & creates or puts up that little floater, and after getting banged up he hardly did any of that. But making life miserable for Langborn, Barnhizer & Martinelli was huge.

I haven't seen the game, yet, but.... shhhh... I won't say who suggested this, but his / her initials are @Playing Catch🤔

Really good win vs a tough team to play. Without Chucky it took a bit to settle in but once McGee took over at point the offense ran much better

Great adjustment by Gard to go with Klesmit on Bouie and bring our bigs up to stop his penetration in the lane

For a team that doesn’t block shots I saw two of the best all year with McGee’s and Storr’s blocks

Stephen Bardo referenced it but this team is really good when they get downhill on offense.  That is especially true for Crowl and Wahl  There is nothing worse than watching things grind to a halt when they play back to the basket/ dribble down in the post.  It reminds me of watching old Charles Barkley

I think this team could make a nice run in the NCAAs

Certainly possible. Nowadays it's so much more about opponent matchups than seeding so we'll see how it breaks down. It would help if Tyler Wahl can get back to doing Tyler Wahl things (the good things lol).

Good call about Klesmit switching on to Buie. He guarded (and shut down) Ty Berry last time the teams played, so it was nice to have him "freed up" for the assignment. I liked the idea of Blackwell starting out on him, it just didn't work out today. Give him a year or two & Blackwell will be guarding 1s, 2s or 3s effectively.

Hah!! Turns out Wahl got tangled up w/someone else, went down, & Buie fell over him. My description above wasn't quite accurate. It would've been hard to lay him out on some of his 3pt attempts since you'd have to be nuts to guard him 28 feet from the hoop.

Glad we won't see that guy anymore.

I finally watched the game.  It was almost the opposite of what happened earlier in the game when Buie chop blocked Wahl and Wahl fell over him.  Except this time, the Northwestern player had a small hold of Wahl's jersey and Wahl's pirouette might have been a bit embellished.  I don't think it was intentional at all.

As the game was going on, I was following on the sports app and was seeing Buie's performance in the first half.  I was having visions of Stephen Curry and Davidson vs. Wisconsin in Detroit.

Painter was bragging about getting 4 charge calls against MSU yesterday. Today Loyers feet are completely off the ground as he throws himself backwards. That was supposed to be taken out of the game the last couple years

Apparently the coaches gave Wahl and Gilmore the green light on threes. Not working out so well

Certainly don't want Wahl doing that, almost more than not wanting Gilmore doing it. But Ilver not making them really costs us. That's one of the reasons he's gotten increased minutes, to knock down some shots. He makes one or two, now they probably have to guard him with a four, and Edey has to come out on Crowl. Instead he misses on both his attempts, plus misses a boxout on a FT. That's quite a big swing in a tie game.

That, and leaving 3 or 4 points on the FT line hurt us. Really could've been up 6 or 8 at the half.

That's a pretty obvious call to overturn.

That was pretty disjointed.  Still have a chance though

Good play and execution.  Foul trouble might be an issue however.

Wait, are they calling a foul on Wahl for being run over?
