Milwaukee Brewers Players Project - please read and give feedback

People should be returning over the next few days and I want to bring this up as a potential feature of BF once we get into the flow of the season.

Several months ago, I found myself frustrated by how useful information about players is scattered all over the internet and the best content is often hard to find. So I decided to see if there was a way to solve that problem with a very specific focus on one team. Then I thought it would be cool to add the ability to upload an autograph, personal experiences, baseball cards, etc. Drill down deep into a single team, powered by a community passionate about that one thing.

For example, Rollie Fingers had a long, illustrious career but does anyone here care about really anything he did before 1981? Probably not. So what if we created a page that if you searched "rollie fingers brewers", this was the first result and it contained a host of information about his Brewers tenure?

Well, I just rolled it out over at Twins Daily and interest in slowly building on it. The big issue is that a project like this needs real community buy-in or it doesn't work.

Are people interested in a project of this kind? There will be incentives for helping out as a moderator and/or creator but given the newness of this project, I don't know if that would be a yearly gift (like we do for moderators) or a monthly stipend.

So would the plan be to produce a historic list of players and ask people to pick a player to make the page? Would it be 100% of players?  Just the bigger ones?

At TD, it’s open to all players and coaches, even career minor leaguers.

I'd maybe be interested... if I had time.  I started a new job and a few extra personal activities... things have been hopping.

One thing along these lines that you maybe would want to incorporate into this, is an archive of reillymcshane's Brewers Player Retrospectives from over the years.  There have been some recent ones in the Front Page News sestion here, but there were a bunch of them done on the old bf.net, and they'd have links at the bottom to prior players chronicled.  I always really enjoyed these, they are fantastic reads and discussions.  But the old ones are elusive even in the search function.

We have most if not all of those archived. I’ve already spoken to Reilly about this project, they were literally my first PM about it.
