Hicklen now hitting 0.318 with a 1.004 OPS. Tied for 1st place in SB across the entire International League. Third in OPS amongst players over 100 AB's.

AND, yet, given the nature of negative regression across the Brewers offensive lineup the Brewers felt it was a good idea to promote Wiemer when they did. I don't care how you try to explain it to me, it didn't make sense. It never made sense. It still doesn't make sense.

Guys who deserve their opportunities deserve them. It's that simple. Wiemer absolutely did not.

Per the above commentary, the AAA Sounds play at Rays’ affiliate Durham this week. LHP Aaron Ashby got today’s start and DH/C Eric Haase returned to action (last played April 30).

Today’s 10-inning afternoon victory had a bit of everything: the teams combined on 17 runs, 28 hits, 5 double plays, 3 outfield assists, 5 homers (2 by Brewer Hicklen).

After 1 1/2 rain-outs over the weekend, Low-A Carolina’s pitching staff is well-rested. They play at Astros’ affiliate Fayetteville, NC this week, with 18-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez (3.15 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 8.1 K/9 in 20 IP) getting the opening game start. Blayberg Diaz (.721 OPS) gets a crack at 1st base after Tayden Hall’s promotion.

What a change 2 days makes!: AA Biloxi welcomes 3B Brock Wilken and DH/C Wes Clarke back from injury as they host Rays’ affiliate Montgomery this week. RHP TJ Shook (4.18 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 10.6 K/9 in 23.2 IP) aims to bounce back from a rough start last week (5 IP, 5 ER). Yes, that’s 6’6”, 250lb Ernesto Martinez in center field in light of CD Rodriguez’s injury.

The High-A Timber Rattlers welcome 1B Tayden Hall to the team as they face a road series against Royals’ affiliate Quad Cities this week. LHP Tate Kuehner makes his 3rd start (5th appearance), though it’s been a struggle (7.82 ERA, 2.18 WHIP, 13.1 K/9 in 11 IP).

Clarke with a 2 rbi double in first AB

Nice seeing Biloxi score some runs with their lineup healthy again.

That’s 12-straight retired by Manuel Rodriguez to start the game in Fayetteville. The Mudcats have 5 hits, but just 1 run to show for it thus far (Yophery single knocked in Guilarte - single, SB).

Yophery Rodgriguez with a 1-1 rocket over the wall for his 4th RBI of the evening. JUST tuned in. Saw a ball outside in an 0-1 count. Then saw him absolutely crush an middle-in off-speed hanger pitch for the 3-run jack!

4-0 Mudcats baby!

Manuel Rodriguez is through 6 shutout innings on only 52 pitches. What an effort!

And Yophery Rodriguez (not related, I swear) has just smacked a 3-run homer to right to finally get some breathing room. 4-0 Mudcats!

One thing is absolutely true of Yophery: unafraid of the BIG moments. He's had some huge hits already in 2024. You just love to see it!

Another absolutely stellar RHP Manuel Rodriguez start? Not shocking. He's been an absolute stud so far in 2024. Such a controlled style for such a young arm. Incredible poise and control.

We have a classic fantastic RHP TJ Shook outing through 4 IP. Shuckers lead 3-0. Shook is 4 complete with lotta key zeroes across the board. 5 K.

WELCOME BACK Wes ClarkeWilken 2-out single. Clarke 2-run JACK. Yeah baby. 5-0 Shuckers. Highlight coming shortly. Absolutely crushed 106 mph dart into the trees over the LF wall (377 feet of distance).

Naturally, Biloxi has yet to solve their camera issues. Sigh. The media issues in the Brewers system to start 2024...not a fan. LOL.

Being healthy seems to suit Wes Clarke. And with Tyler Black promoted and the fact we’re never calling up Francisco Mejia, we might as move Clarke move to AAA. Just a thought.

There's Rodriguez's first hiccup. A two out. 0-2 heater hit oppo for a solo jack. 4-1 Mudcats. 98 mph off the bat to a 359' distance.
