The ACL Reds at ACL Brewers game is already underway, with 19-year old RHP Aneuris Rodriguez getting the start.

He K’d 3 of 4 batters in the top half of the 1st inning, then his teammates scored 2 runs on 4 hits in the bottom half (though made 2 outs on the basepaths). Nice start.

The AAA Sounds can clinch the series at Durham tonight and send LHP Nick Bennett (3.24 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 4.3 K/9 in 16.2 IP) to the mound to lead the way. Tyler Black is out of the lineup a day after exiting early (fouled pitch off foot).

AA Biloxi’s lineup is looking a lot more formidable and they also have an opportunity to clinch a series win at home against Montgomery. Stud 22-year old RHP Jacob Misiorowski (2.70 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 13.9 K/9 in 23.1 IP) makes his 7th start of 2024, still looking for his first Win. Will DH/3B Brock Wilken homer for the 3rd straight day?

The High-A Timber Rattlers are tied 2-2 in this week’s series at Quad Cities and have RHP Alexander Cornielle looking to duplicate his superb last outing (6 IP, 0 ER, 6 Ks). CF Luis Lara has a 16-game on-base streak.

Low-A Carolina needs to punch back at Fayetteville to gain a 3-2 series lead, sending intriguing 21-year old RHP Yorman Galindez (2.30 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 16.1 K/9 in 15.2 IP) out for his 6th start of 2024. Reece Walling makes his first minor league start at first base since joining the organization in 2022.

Time will tell whether INF Johan Barrios’ 9th inning stint on the mound in ACL Brewers’ blowout loss (16-4) signals a shift toward two-way play or was simply mop-up duty to preserve arms. The $1.385 million 2022 signee only has 9 PAs through 6 ACL games.

No Black in the lineup after fouling a ball of his ankle yesterday and being removed. Hopefully he just needs a couple of days off.

LHP Nick Bennett is giving us 'that' version of Nick Bennett. 3 Hits. 1 BB. 1 K. 1 down. A single just plated the Bulls first run. Bases are still juiced. 1-0 Bulls. Hopefully, he can get a DP ball and get out of this.

Absolutely not. Grand slam. Sheeesh. What a terrible start. 😅 Sounds trail 5-0. Still one down. He's already at 30 pitches.

From my vantage point, and what do I know - I am not managing these young men, obviously - just watching all the games I do. Bennett and Seminaris have demonstrated they are better out of the Pen. Much much better warming up and entering game in the middle innings. They regress nearly every time they Start a game. I don't know what it is. BUT, sometimes, I just feel like we should let these pitchers excel where they are effective. I've seen this type of thing play out one too many times.

I mean Bennett was being used out of the pen. He was forced into the rotation because of injuries. McKendry has been hurt. Junk has been on the MLB shuttle. Gasser/Myers have been in the MLB. This is pretty much out of necessity.

I understand it's a bullpen game. What I am saying, plainly is: don't start him. He's still available, obviously. That's my point. I've seen this play out with him starting one too many times. It's just not setting him up for success. I understand what you are saying. I don't agree with the approach. And I'm not using a hindsight is 20/20 here. I don't like him starting any game. That's just me, perhaps.

He was fine the other two times he started. He had 4 ER in one of them but 2 of his ER were in the 5th inning. He's just an inconsistent pitcher whether its starting games or out of the pen.

Wisco first on the board with another Dylan O’Rae triple followed by a Gregory Barrios sac fly.

Cornielle also strong through his first three IP going scoreless with 3 K | 1 BB.

Carolina up 2-1 early with another Miguel Briceno bomb plus a Yhoswar Garcia single, stolen base, passed ball combo and Daniel Guilarte RBI single accounting for the runs.

Biloxi also marks the first tally of the evening on a trio of singles from Lamar Sparks, Mike Boeve and Brock Wilken in the bottom of the third.

Mis hanging in there despite some command issues surfacing that last inning.

Continue to think the best path forward with him is to use up some of his bullets getting his feet wet out of the major league bullpen as opposed to starting the whole season and/or going to AAA. Like how the Cubs are using Ben Brown.

Misiorowski gifts a run. Walk, single, HBP, force out at home, walk. But ends the inning before more can happen.

78 pitches through 4, that was a 29 pitch inning. We will see if goes out for the 5th, and how much longer.

Wisconsin and Carolina still offensively challenged. 5 H for both teams combined, although thru 10 innings combined. Last night both teams had 5 H in the 2 games total. Wisconsin has really struggled offensively overall the past couple of weeks.

That's a very fair assessment. Perhaps, I'm just a wee over-cantankerous because I'm hobbling around with a broken toe. I should be giving up grand slams. Not these men who work 10x harder at their craft than I do!😅

Well, nope. Bo Bowman comes on. I guess a success for Misio? 4 solids  innings, but too many pitches as his control escapes him in the 4th.

Cornielle looking sharp during 6 shutout IP. :)

Really nice to see talented RHP Alexander Cornielle find a bit of a stride after inconsistencies in 2023. This is a young man who always had the strikeout stuff in spades. It was consistency finding the zone that typically has been his 'downfall'. Pitching 6 complete scoreless frames with very little action on the basepaths, 6 K, in a very fragile 1-0 T-Rats lead is the stuff that really solidifies what several of us have been pining for since he was called up from Carolina. Always had the K numbers. Always had the build and the raw stuff. Really hoping he is finding another step up with his arsenal and performance.
