He’ll be lucky to get thru 4.

I’m fine if he is removed sooner

I’d be okay if we trade him

I’m tired of crossing my fingers & hoping we get good Freddy

He is the most disappointing player on the 2024 team

Exit velocity isn’t everything.

It is though.  You will get a base hit more than likely with a higher EV than you will with a low EV.  The Canha hit was at 98 EV and Kelly's was at 98.3 EV.  So neither of them would qualify.  The two low EV's in that inning all were outs with one high EV being an out.  The lowest EV for a hit was by Baez at 83.6.

Need something from Contreras here other than a tapper to short.

I guess I'll take that.

I agree that exit velocity helps but couldn’t disagree more strongly that it is everything.

Id rather see a hitter take a pitch to the opposite field through a wide hole than smash one into the teeth of the defense.

And, as I added, I didn’t hear any complaints about seeing eye hits on Yelich’s RBI single.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Got some runs but bad ABs from your 2/3/4 hitters there.

At least we got the runs 😎

Sure, but you can't count on Freddy today.  Needed more than that with the bases loaded and not outs with the top of the order up.

But those are not low EV hits either.  You are confusing exit velocity with pulling a ball.  You can actually get less exit velocity by trying to pull a bull than if the hitter goes to the opposite side of the field.  Adames AB that inning is a perfect example of that.  It had a 48.8 EV and it was pulled.

I am perplexed by Freddy's weird velo changes.  There's a Twitter account that tracks weird decreases as potential injuries that pegged him a few starts ago...then the very next inning he threw a couple at 99.  Now he goes in at 89 and even the staff thinks something's wrong,  Next inning we'll probably see 97.

I am not confusing anything. I think you and the poster who liked  your post are confused and interpreted what I said as “exit velocity means nothing”.

Some of the posters on this board are obsessed with exit velocity and that is not “everything” in baseball.

If you think those balls hit by Kelly and Canha were lucky “seeing eye singles” as they were described by the announcers, I don’t know what to tell you

I wonder if Freddy is tipping again. He had some really bad misses today, but he also had some close balls taken that were almost shocking to see taken. The chase rate against him today is shockingly low for Freddy standards.

Right on cue Rotino  goes bonkers over Frelick’s “great piece of hitting”.
