Would really, really hate to include Boeve in that deal, but Knack is an overpay for a few months of Adames. I get it from that author's side.

Do it with O'Rae or Brown Jr. instead and I'd help Willy pack.

That's one of the most ridiculous hypothetical trades I've ever seen. That wouldn't even make sense if the Brewers were in last place and they were desperate to off-load a non-tender version of Adames. Why, on earth, would the Brewers send back prospect capital?? For a 27 year old pitcher that hasn't broke a 2.99 xFIP since his first season in the minors? Knack is a dime-a-dozen DFA candidate waiting to happen.

Whomever would be drafted with a comp pick would already be a higher draft pick than Boeve.

Would someone trade Adames AND Boeve for Evan McKendry or Garrett Stallings (who?)?

Edit: Fine, a 2.99 xFIP would be a high bar, but still.

Well that doesn't look like a fair trade at all..

To save the clickbait links, it's Willy Adames and Mike Boeve for Dodgers no .12 prospect Landon Knack

That’s what I thought too. Laughable.

That is disgustingly gross.

And why would the Dodgers need to trade? They have an 8 game lead. Maybe if they value the one seed over everything else, but talk about a team that can afford to be patient, it has to be them. Unless $300 million doesn't go as far as it used to, and Ohtani, Freeman, Will Smith, Teoscar Hernandez, Jason Heyward, Gavin Lux, Chris Taylor, and Max Muncy (at some point). I am having a tough time worrying about the Dodgers.

Certainly glad you're not the Brewers' GM.

Well I just a post in the other thread about Adames.

I looked at a FG page that listed SS production from all teams. Try to find the playoff contending teams where SS could use an upgrade.

Arizona was a good one.  They are 20th in that ranking with below avg batting. Slightly above avg defense. Stats that Adames beats both on above average.

You would be eyeing more on prospect end as there are a few I'm seeing with good writeups  a year or 3 away. 2b/SS. In mlbs 5-10 ranges.  As well as a risky pitcher that was two way at draft but AZ drafted to pitch. At #18 is Caden Grice. Focusing full time pitching could increase his stuff and become a steal.

Realize that doesn't improve the pitching situation, but like mentioned, playoff teams arent giving away quality SPs on their ML pitching staff, for the improvement Adames gives.

Btw, look at last year's ROY Carroll, #5 MVP vote getter plus AllStar.

.611 OPS in 305PAs. Very tough year that an Adames clubhouse presence might get Carroll rolling the last 2+months of season.

Giants are another team but their #1 prospect is having a good start to his SS career. Problem may be solved.

The Braves are getting that above/below 700 OPS production from Arcia.  Longshot partner imo though.

Any trade of Adames at this year's deadline HAS to return a prospect more valuable than the comp pick the Brewers would be losing by trading him a few months before his free agency.  I just don't see a contending team desperate enough for SS help to pony up the prospect capital it should take to pry the starting SS from a team currently leading their division with eyes on the postseason.

From the Brewers' perspective, it would need to be an AL team to send Adames to (i.e., don't improve NL postseason competitors).  Maybe the Astros, Cleveland, or Red Sox are fits at this point as playoff hopefuls with limitations/issues at SS, but frankly that's about it for potential suitors.

I just don't see a good reason to trade Adames at this point - and that's just fine by me.

This is just Rosenthal not knowing or caring about what’s good for the Brewers.

This is an ESPN-level lack of awareness. Why not have Pat McAfee ask Aaron Rodgers if he can hallucinate a better deal.
