It appears that 21–year old RHP Cristofher Carrasco is Carolina’s spot starter today. He’s only averaged 21 pitches per outing, so this is an interesting choice.

I wish RHP Hayden Robinson had gotten the call from ACL ball, but he may be injured for all I know (last pitched June 6).

Low-A Carolina has dropped 3 straight at home against Fredericksburg, so needs a win behind spot starter RHP Cristofher Carrasco to salvage a series tie.

LHP DL Hall makes his 2nd rehab start of the week, as AAA Nashville tries to end a rough week at Gwinnett on a positive note.

A Francisco Mejia walk and a pair of doubles from Tyler Black and Wes Clarke has plated a pair of runs for Nashville in the top of the first.

Vinny Capra HBP has runners on first and second for Brewer Hicklen with one down.

Brewer walked and Chris Roller singled to bring home two more Nashville runs.

Roller steals second and Yonny Hernandez walks to load the bases for Patrick Dorrian.

Daniel Guilarte doubled, moved to third on a Yophery Rodriguez ground out then scored on a wild pitch.

Cooper Pratt followed up with a double of his own then came around to score on a Luis Castillo single.

Christofher Carrasco has a walk, HBP and strikeout over two scoreless (27 pitches).

Carrasco came out for a third inning and got the first two outs (fly out, K) but a single and Cooper Pratt error has runners on the corners.

Morris Austin comes on and gets the 4-3 groundout to quash it.

RHP Alexander Cornielle returns from injury for High-A Wisconsin, which can clinch the first half division title with a win at West Michigan or a Cedar Rapids loss.

Hall goes 1-2-3  in the second with a K.

Four seamers coming in between 92.8 and 93.8 mph.

Not great.

TRats get on the board top of two with a Matthew Wood single, Jesus Chirinos double, Eduarqui Fernandez single and Jheremy Vargas bomb resulting in four runs.

Mudcats get 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs in the 5th and don't get a single run. They are really doing everything in their power to make this first half race go down to the wire.

Alexander Cornielle sharp through three scoreless with 1 H | 1 BB | 3 K over 40 pitches.

Wisco also just added two more runs on a Luke Adams walk, Jadher Areinamo double, and Matthew Wood single to run the score to 8-0 through three and a half.

Aidan Maldonado worked around a leadoff double in the 8th and a pair of two out singles in the 9th to record the final six outs (three strikeouts) in the 4-3 Mudcats win.

Can't imagine the Timber Rattlers planned for Brian Fitzpatrick to not even give them an inning today. Rund comes in with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs. Routine ground ball to 1B and Rund drops the well thrown pitch to him covering the base. 8-5 Rattlers and we have ourselves a game today.

Not sure what’s worse. DL Hall missing most of this season and losing his velocity.

or Ashby’s career outlook after another disastrous outing.  He had those two nice outings but did not sustain anything from that.  Looks more likely he may not advance his career with his injury history and his slow recovery so far. Wonder if now is the time to get him to the pitching lab? If Hall can get some momentum, and if Junis can return, and then July Ross and Devin may be back. Shut Ashby down to work on whatever is messing him up.

TRats trying to cough up the lead. Ugh. Fitzpatrick and Rund cough up 5 runs.  Time for the offense to get some insurance.  8-5 lead right now. Could use a couple more.

Aaron Rund settled in nicely after his two run errror putting up 3.1 scoreless with 1 H | 2 BB | 3 K.

Still 8-5 Wisco with Eduarqui leading off top of nine.

SS Eric Brown Jr. (exited Friday’s game early) is healthy and back in AA Biloxi’s lineup as they aim to even their home series against Tennessee 3-3. RHP Shane Smith (5 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 5 Ks on Tuesday) makes his 2nd start of the week.
