I mean there is no chance he makes it to us on the waiver wire but he is a significant upgrade from Mona and would be great insurance to have for the stretch to protect against injury.

Kind of a bizarre sequence from the Dodgers to trade for him then DFA almost immediately...?

It actually makes me wonder how he fell to the Dodgers in the first place? Presumably, 28 or so teams had a shot to pick him up before the Dodgers?

I dunno if he's an upgrade over Monasterio. Certainly, he's better with the stick, at least this season. But while he's no world-beater, Monasterio may be better in every other respect. Considering the Brewers prefer their catchers as righty-pinch hitters, the Brewers may prefer Monasterio as the pinch-runner/defensive sub.

The Brewers should be pursuing another RH bat in the outfield though. With Yelich out and assuming Perkins comes back... That means we are still going to be starting Frelick or Mitchell against LHP come playoff time.

Rosario has an OPS over 800 against LHP this season. He would provide infield depth as well as a needed outfield piece.

I guess I would prefer to either go with Hicklen/Roller, or a guy like recently released Harold Ramirez over Rosario in that case.

He’d be an upgrade but I am guessing we stick with Mona for such a bit role, whether it’s the right move or not..

I'm not mad at you for having an opposing opinion .. but if we face Chris Sale in a wild card play in game you'd rather start Brewer Hicklen over a guy who is hitting .327 this year against LHP?

It's not that I think those options are all better than Rosario, as much as I'm not sure I believe that Rosario represents a big upgrade over those options, and that in the playoffs, Monasterio is more of a pinch-runner, defensive sub, than as a pinch hitter, as Sanchez and (currently Haase), probably fill the pinch hit roles from the right side. One could convince me I'm wrong, I very well could be. I notice Rosario does have pretty strong career numbers versus lefties, and he's only 28, so okay, the Brewers could pick him up.

I guess I just don't feel very strongly about it.
