Man the struggle is real for Wilken. His August has been brutal. And another at bat where he looked fooled. Just not seeing it well? Or guessing wrong on the pitches?

That's the second pitching call I got wrong. Stiven Cruz comes out for the 5th. And he gives up a couple of hits. And now comes out for Bayden Root. Let's go Bayden hope you do what Merkel did for Hung.

So I'm either a bad manager (0 for 2 on the calls), or really good (since my call could have faired better than what was done). IDK?

 

Oh and white flag time for the Muddies as Briceno came on to pitch in the 8th. It is now 9-3

Root doesn't do as well as Merkel, but the defense was  great.

First  batter walks, now bases loaded. And next is a grounder to Adams. Who plays is very well, I mean good positioning and soft hands and accurate throw to the plate. One down, bases still juiced. Then a grounder between 1B and 2B and Areinamo makes a nice play and great throw to get the out and then a heads up play by Chirinos to get the other runner at the plate. It's a tie game, but could have been so much worse. 

No surprise a Victor Esevez coached team makes smart plays to keep themselves in the game. Some more rain so we will see if this is a complete game or not. Now the offense needs to pick up a few runs.

Muddies are down to their last couple of outs, and Biloxi still offensively challenged.

If we will hat tip Yoho/Ashby as solid innings of relief work in the loss, let's do the same for Nick Merkel. Came in with 2-on and 1 out, and got out of the jam, then nothing more. So far 2.2 IP, 4 K and no hits/walks/runs.

I have no idea if he comes out for another inning of work, given my track history tonight I guess I should assume he will now pitch the 9th.

But let's hope the Shuckers bats start to feel the music and get the good vibes going. We need the band to start to make some hits and get down some runs.

Let’s get down tonight Casey Martin. 3-2 MBraves and the chance for more was scuttled by the umps who call ORae out on a steal attempt. Another odd call. The umps in this game were not the stars.

Meanwhile TRats give up the lead and trail 3-2. 
And I was right - Merkel out and now Gardner in to keep it a 1 run game.  But lights out work Merkel!

And the Shuckers have more bad luck. After a D. Miller hard hit single, another hard hit single by Sparks.  Two on and 1 out. Rally time. EMJ lines it hard and. Scorches it right to the diving SS, who jumps up to touch 2nd base for the force out double play. I mean that was a sure fire hit but the SS was already up the middle and made a great diving play to catch the liner.

And Yerlin in for the TRats and fills the bases and lets in another run.  At least they won the first one today. Would be nice for some more magic and offense in Wisconsin. But first they need to get out of the bases loaded no out jam.

TRats go down in order and it’s a final. Not the nest from W-L, and not a lot of offense. But we did have some nice pitching performances (C Peralta, Yoho/Ashby/Middendorf, J. Figueroa, KC Hunt, and Nick Merkel with a great outing!)

Feel like there might be a pulse with Ashby here in his past few outings. He is finally getting back to that spike curve ball. I hope he can end the season on a positive note.

Agreed. The thing with Ashby is that he's still only 18 months removed from shoulder surgery. Hopefully he can make as much progress in the next 6 months as he has in the last 6 months. If so, he very well could find himself on the opening day roster in 2025.
