Many of us already know of RHP Lucas Erceg's ongoing journey with sobriety. Jeff Passan adds another wrinkle as he shares a depiction of his recent visits with a correction facility in Boonville, Missouri. Worth the read.

Came to post this, definitely worth the read.  Erceg was a guy I was hoping we'd hang on to a little longer.  He was certainly inconsistent after moving to the mound but there were enough flashes in 22 and 23 where you knew something was there.  Glad he found success, sobriety and happiness.

Signed to a Minor League deal this off-season, INF Abraham Toro had been on the Red Sox 40-Man since early May. That is no longer the case. Heck of a run that came to a screeching halt with his recent offensive woes.

At least David Hamilton is getting the call in his stead, former Brewer in, former Brewer out, may the circle be unbroken.

The Sox definitely love themselves some former Brewers. It is in their organizational DNA. I saw Hamilton got the call and I didn't even blink.😅

Cam Devanney getting called up by the Pirates. MLBTR article notes that he was called up for a brief spell with the Royals earlier this year but did not get into a game.

RHP Vinny Nitolli once again will seek another opportunity. He has opted out of his second Minor League contract this season as he seeks that path back to an MLB pitching staff:

This Devanney news got me all nostalgic for the 2022 Shuckers season. I recall he essentially took the starting 3B job from Ashton McGee as an injury replacement in the first game of the season @ Pensacola. Cam really never looked back. It got me looking elsewhere. It appears RHP Zach Vennarro (High Point) and RHP Kent Hasler (Gastonia) are both pitching in the Atlantic League. Hasler is having a really nice relief year with 57 K in 41.0 IP.

Man, just some AWESOME news coming in for some former Brewers in Alfaro, Navs, and Ponce. How about an INF Cam Devanney first MLB knock?

Let's top that first career poke off with some zesty MLB controversy:

RHP Caleb Boushley has been DFA'd by the Rangers.

Quote

Over 43 2/3 innings this season, Boushley has an ugly 6.02 ERA but a much more respectable 3.81 SIERA.  Some bad batted-ball luck (.358 BABIP) is to blame, not to mention a 58.7% strand rate.  Boushley’s 7.3% walk rate and 21.2% strikeout rate have been decent, so a rival team exploring the waiver wire might have interest in the righty’s services.  Boushley has two minor league option years remaining, so a waiver claim now could be more designed towards adding some relief depth for 2026 than the remainder of the 2025 campaign.

3 homers and 11 RBIs in 15 MLB games for Joey Wiemer, though the 1 BB / 20 K ratio (in 51 PAs) could use some help:

I was just coming to post this. 😅 We can all look back at that RHP Chad Patrick outing versus Jacksonville when Wiems hit two long balls for and tallied 5 RBI as the launchpad. He went 3-for-3 that night with a walk. He went 8-for-17 on that entire Sounds series with 3 2B in addition to the game one 2 HR. 9 RBI, 5 BB, 5 K. Just an incredible series. Despite the K rate, it's really great to see Wiems experience some semblance of solid success back at the MLB level!

Old friend Janson Junk (175.1 Nashville innings in 2023/24; 15.1 Brewers’ IP) is scheduled to start for Miami at the Phillies on Thursday. He’s had a respectable MLB season since having his contract selected in May:

my lasting memory of him as a Brewer was pitching in the game vs Yankees in 2024 when they crushed us that day. The infamous Aaron Judge base running game.

The only game I attended last season too...

OF/RHP Brett Phillips is indeed hanging them up at age 31. Heck of a long-lasting career

man Phillips is only 31? Feels like he's been around a long time.
