Not really spring training related

Keep stacking FO talent. Eppler has a talented eye for talent. Was a big reason the Angels were able to recruit Ohtani to Anaheim.

Well this certainly is interesting if nothing else. I'll be interested to hear what they have planned here. Any way you look at it a small market like the Brewers swooping in and grabbing a former Yankee Director of Scouting and Assistant GM; the Angels GM; and the Mets GM certainly says something. What exactly that is will be revealed over time.

First Matt Klentak and now Billy Eppler.

Klentak failed as a GM with Philadelphia, but hired here and sent to help with the international department 2 years ago. Look at that department today. Not saying it was because of him but he obviously helped improve that department.

Looking forward to the same type of help to the system as a whole in some form from Mr Eppler.

I think often times executives and coaches fail at the top job(manager or General Manager) and then people think that person must be an idiot or not know baseball. When often times they had to be really good at their previous job in order to get that opportunity in the 1st place. Getting someone like Eppler to help underneath Arnold seems like a win in my book.

If I'm not mistaken, the Brewers now have Melvin; Klentak; and Eppler listed as an Executive Assistant or Executive and Special Advisor to Matt Arnold. I personally love giving Arnold this level of acumen and support. I do believe Eppler has been named as an advisor for scouting and baseball ops so perhaps that's a wee different?

Isn’t Eppler just taking the spot Gord Ash used to hold like two years ago before he fully retired?

Nice, more experienced voices won't hurt. At this point, Arnold is established and successful enough to have guys like this around and command the room. Eppler in the scouting department should be helpful with the draft resources we have.
