The Low-A Mudcats host Astros’ affiliate Fayetteville this week, with the series kicking off at 11:05 CST today after a rainout yesterday. RHP Travis Smith (3.94 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 6.8 K/9 in 16 IP) starts the opening game. 3B Jesus Made’s on-base streak is at 24 games.

After a rainout yesterday, AAA Nashville will play 2 games at Memphis today, welcoming recently-signed Bobby Dalbec as a right fielder in Game One. RHP Aaron Civale makes his second rehab start (4 scoreless innings last week).

High-A Wisconsin needs some immediate revenge to even their home series against Beloit 1-1, with RHP Patricio Aquino (1.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 5.0 K/9 in 18 IP) getting the somewhat surprising start (max pitch count thus far in 2025: 53 on April 12). DH/1B Blake Burke’s hit streak is up to 10 games.

Dinges dinger - a two run variety - has put the Muddies atop 2-1 in the bottom of the 3rd. Meanwhile, Payne's very rough string of AB's continues as he K's for the second time today to end the frame. That's now 12 K in 34 May AB. The young man is definitely slumping.

Hmmm. The Patricio Aquino spot start didn’t work out: 6 runs, 35 pitches in the 1st inning. Odds of a position player pitching just increased to 85% in this one.

& a Dinges double ties it up at five each in the sixth.

'Dinges Dinger'

'Dinges Dubba'

'Destroyed by Dinges'

'Dinges Does Damage'

The alliteration quality alone is meant for MLB broadcast booths. His quality of play truly lifts all 'Ding(hi)es'!

NASH romping early with an 8-0 lead after five.

Seigler (BB | 1B | HR), Dunn (BB | 2B), Alfaro (1B x2), and Delgado (1B x2 | SB) with the standout lines in the box so far.

Civale is at 5 IP | 2 H | 1 BB | 2 K with 60 pitches (40 strikes).

It's hard to fathom two Midwest League teams have been playing more uninspired than the T-Rats in their own division. And, yet, apparently that is the case. Yikes.

Man, the return of LHP Sam Garcia is a godsend for the late innings options in Carolina. Fantastic outing so far today. Big innings there. He struck out two more to strand a runner in the 8th.

My goodness have a Game 1 Anthony Seigler! 3-for-4 just a double shy of the cycle after an RBI triple bagger in the ninth. Sounds pounding the Redbirds 11-0!

Seigler: HR, 3B, 1B, BB, 4 RBIs - close en enough to a cycle for me

What a run he has been on. It's pretty easy to forget: He was hitting woefully to start his campaign. Clearly, he is getting comfy and we are all the better for it. He's playing fantastic ball.

How about another Dinges DONGER here to lead off bottom of eight.

A literal rainmaker as one batter later the game is in delay.

Dalbec is 0-for-3 today with 2 K (AB right now as I type) but adding him in the heart of this current Sounds line up is pretty dang enticing. This Sounds outfit, as they are playing, is built for a serious playoff run. I'd put them up against any team in the International League and feel confident they can at least split. This is a good Triple-A squad.

I think the T-Rats pitching staff is out to set a six-game runs allowed record. They are hot on the trail to wherever they are trying to take this burning wagon train.

Solid line for Aaron Civale (5 shutout innings, 2 singles, 1 BB), though I suspect we want to see more Ks (2) and ground balls (4 of 14 batted balls). Velocity peaked at 93.5mph over 60 pitches.

Gotta figure one more rehab start, right?

Pitching RHP Deivi García in this seventh frame in an 11-0 walloping has me thinking the Sounds staff wants him to close this out and stay warm for Game 2 30 some minutes afterward? Would this even be feasible? Just seems odd given he has been starting games for a month. Are they just keeping his arm active? So many questions, my friends.

Jeferson Figueroa went 50 pitches in relief and now Jesus Broca is at 58 pitches, only for a Juan Baez error to extend the 6th inning. Rough.

Wisconsin trails 11-6 after Areinamo homered and Beloit’s wild relief pitcher allowed in 2 more runs.
