Rhys is looking good would be smart in my opinion to dump him save 4 mil on his buyout next year plus whatever he's still owed this year would also would be nice to get woody back going hopefully he pitches well and we could dump him to save 10 mil buyout next year trade cortes because he's gone next year anyway, Freddy's got one year left after this might as well trade him to

Cortes has to pitch before we can think about trading him.  Even if he does pitch again this year, I don't imagine much of a market for him.

The most likely scenario right now is they are running a 15% or so playoff odds at the deadline and just shuffle a few cards to re tool for a "let's see what happens" run. Trade away a pitcher or 2 and prospect #15 for a depth bat for example.

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

I think that's probably the thing I want to happen least. I'd most want them to figure things out and get into the playoff race, but if that's not an option then I want them to stink and sell.

If we are at .500 I would think we might trade a starter or two and try and a bat. If we are like 5 games under I can see us selling the 1 year guys and entertaining bigger offers on Freddy, William, Megill among others (only take an overpay). Some of it depends on where some of our younger pitchers are on innings and having a plan, I doubt Misi and Henderson will be allow to throw much over 130 innings so it does get hard to trade Nestor, Woody, and Civale and then move a couple starters to the pen. Also the division will play a role, if we are under .500 but only 4ish games behind the Cubs or whoever is in the lead that is a big difference than say 8 games back. I doubt there is a chance at the Wild Card with how good the NL is.

Theoretically they could trade those 3, put Henderson and Misiorowski in the bullpen, and still have Freddy, Myers, Priester, Quintana, Patrick, Hall, Gasser, Ashby, and Rodriguez as starting options. In a scenario where they’re no longer trying to compete, that should be enough to get them to the finish line

I forgot about Quintana, if we sent off those guys we would probably trade him as well. But your point is good, in all likelihood we would probably get a mlb ready pitcher back for one of them even if it was a lower value guy. Probably at that point even a AA guy like Crow or Wichrowski could be ready if they get a promotion in a month or so.
