Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Norfolk 8, Nashville 7 (in 10 innings)
Box Score and Game Log

Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Fall in Extras on Walk-Off Home Run

The Sounds seemed to have won this game twice, but couldn’t put that final nail in the coffin, as the multiple blown saves in the box score suggest.

Hits from 7 position players, including homers from OF Bobby Dalbec and 3B Anthony Seigler, 2 singles from C Jeferson Quero and a double from 1B Tyler Black had staked Nashville to a 5-2 lead with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th inning.

A relatively early hook for LHP Bryan Hudson (0.2 IP, 2 BB - 14 pitches) saw RHP Craig Yoho come in and inflame the situation: run-scoring double, game-tying triple.

Nashville’s remaining 2 position players collected hits in the 9th and 10th inning, including this 2-run infield grounder from SS Freddy Zamora for a 7-5 advantage.

RHP Jesus Liranzo thought he’d notched a save by retiring 3 straight batters in the bottom of the 10th, but the last was rightfully reversed from a K to walk via the challenge system. A 3-run walk-off homer followed 4 pitches later for a gut-wrenching defeat.

Friday’s outlook: Dominant RHP Logan Henderson (1.83 ERA with 79 Ks in 59.0 MLB/AAA IP) gets the opportunity to halt Nashville’s 3-game skid.

Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Biloxi 6, Chattanooga 5 (in 10 innings)
Box Score and Game Log

Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Vargas Leads Shuckers to Comeback Win over Lookouts, Magic Number Drops to 4

After a rough start (4 of first 5 batters reached; 2 runs allowed in the 1st inning), starting RHP KC Hunt retired 12 of 13 batters and 3B Luke Adams’ 2-out, 2-run 5th inning homer turned the tide for a 3-2 lead.

Similar to Hudson’s lifting, pulling Hunt (5 2/3 IP, 4 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 4 Ks) with 2-on, 2-out in the 6th inning backfired 2 pitches later when RHP Abdiel Mendoza allowed a 3-run shot for a 5-4 deficit.

Per the linked game report, substitute 2B Jheremy Vargas clutch 2-out RBI singles in the 8th and 10th innings put Biloxi back on top and RHP Bo Bowman induced a sweet 1-2-3 double play with the bases loaded to end it.

Shuckers’ Extras:

  • DH Brock Wilken keeps coming through at the plate, adding a 3-for-5 day with 2 doubles and an RBI.
  • The Shuckers’ won the baserunning component of the game, going 4-for-4 on SB attempts, while C Matt Wood threw out Chattanooga’s only attempted basestealer.
  • 2B Ethan Murray returned from injury for his first action since May 14, exiting after 5 ½ innings.

Friday’s outlook: Impressive RHP Coleman Crow (2.43 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 11.2 K/9 in 37 IP, including reaching 80 pitches in 6 scoreless IP in his last outing) is the scheduled starter, as Biloxi aims to even the series at 2 games apiece.

Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Wisconsin 9, Great Lakes 2
Box Score and Game Log

Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: DeBerry Earns First Pro Win As Rattlers Pull Away Late at Great Lakes

The game was much closer than the final scoreline suggests, though Wisconsin controlled it throughout behind a second straight solid start from RHP Jaron DeBerry (5 2/3 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 7 Ks).

Eight Timber Rattlers collected hits and the remaining player drew a walk, with OF Luiyin Alastre leading the way with 3 singles and OF Yhoswar Garcia having a particularly enjoyable day (2-for-5, double, 2 RBIs, 2 SBs to give him 30 SBs on the season already).

The game was just 1-0 when Yhoswar led off the 5th inning with a bunt single, stole 2 bases and scored, part of a run of 4 consecutive singles by Timber Rattlers’ hitters.

After Wisconsin stranded the bases loaded while leading 4-2 in the 7th inning, RHP Patricio Aquino (2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 5 Ks) danced around traffic in the 7th and 8th frames before 1B Blake Burke re-commenced the scoring (and opened the flood gates for more) with his 2-out RBI single in the top of the 9th inning.

Timber Rattlers’ Extras:

  • DH/C Marco Dinges (2-for-3, 2 walks; .887 OPS in High-A ball) and SS Eduardo Garcia (1-for-5, double, 2 RBIs, SB; .838 season OPS) continue to provide major offensive contributions.
  • After being limited to a maximum of 4 innings in any of his first 5 starts of 2025, DeBerry has now gone 5 1/3 IP (73 pitches) and 5 2/3 IP (81 pitches) in his last two solid outings.

Friday’s outlook: LHP Anthony Flores seeks to build on his terrific last start (5 2/3 IP, 1 R (0 ER), 7 Ks) and lead Wisconsin to a 3-1 series lead on the road.

Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Lynchburg 13, Carolina 1
Box Score and Game Log

Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Longballs Lift Lynchburg Past Mudcats

Lynchburg dominated this game from start to finish, with Carolina trailing 6-1 in the 6th inning before they managed to get any runner in scoring position with less than 2 outs.

For the game, the Mudcats went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position, while the Hillcats were 7-for-20.

The 13 runs allowed included 5 against RHP Bryce Meccage (3.2 IP), 4 against RHP Garrett Hodges (1.1 IP) and 4 (3 earned) against RHP Dikember Sanchez (2 IP). Position player Luis Lameda retired 3 of 4 Hillcats in a scoreless 8th inning.

C Yannic Walther had a mixed day with 2 singles, but was also part of a defense which allowed 8 stolen bases (with 1 caught stealing). At least DH Luis Pena had a solo homer to lift his season SLG to .533.

Mudcats’ Extras:

  • Carolina has now dropped 7 of their last 8 games and find themselves 2 games behind Lynchburg in the first half standings.

Friday’s outlook: The team need LHP Wande Torres (6.32 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 8.3 K/9 in 31 1/3 IP) to give him best start of 2025 if they hope to avoid falling behind 4 games to 0 in this week’s road series.

Final: ACL Dodgers 21, ACL Brewers 10
Box Score and Game Log

Conceding a touchdown, 2-point conversion and field goal all within the first 3 innings put our ‘Zona Men in a quick 11-0 hole, with starting RHP Miqueas Mercedes (2/3  IP, 7 R (0 ER), 2 H, 3 BB, 1 WP, 1 K) and RHP Argenis Aparicio (1 2/3 IP, 6 R, 8 H, 0 BB, 1 WP, 1 K) bearing it all.

At least the offense perked up, with all 9 position players reaching via hit or walk as part of a 10-run, 11-hit evening, even though they never got closer than a 7-run deficit.

2B Jadyn Fielder (2-for-3, 2 walks, 3 RBIs) and OF Pedro Ibarguen each connected on their 2nd homer of 2025. Each of OF Engel Paulino, C Luis Corobo and OF Roderick Flores went 2-for-4 with 2 singles to lift their season stats.

Back to the pitching front, RHP Jose Nova had the only respectable outing (1 2/3 IP, 1 R (0 ER), 1 H, 1 BB, 1 WP, 3 Ks), while RHP Wenderlyn King conceded 5 runs (2 1/3 IP), RHP Carlos Espinal allowed 2 runs (2 IP) and RHP Jose Meneses walked in a run to push the deficit to 13-0 by that point.

Final: DSL Brewers Blue 10, DSL LAD Mega 6
Box Score and Game Log

Five shutout innings from starting RHP Lukas Gonzalez (3 H, 0 BB, 5 Ks) and 5 RBI hits in the first 3 innings made this a comfortable win for the Blue squad.

Seven starting position players and 2 substitutes notched hits, led by DH Jefer Lista (2-for-3, walk, 2 RBIs, 2 SBs) and SS Leonard Rijo (2-for-4, RBI, 2 SBs).

A 5-run 8th inning (on 1 single, 4 walks, 3 HBPs) pushed the advantage to 10-1 before RHP Carlos Galindo (3 2/3 IP, 6 R, 0 Ks) tired in a 5-run 9th.

Nine stolen bases and a 6-for-17 day with runners in scoring position were notable. OF Gerlyn Payano exited after a 2nd inning strikeout, so we’ll have to monitor his availability.

Final: DSL Brewers Gold 3, DSL Rojos 2 (in 7 innings as scheduled)
Box Score and Game Log

RBI doubles from 1B Jonathan Rangel in the 1st inning and 2B Juan Martinez (1-for-2, 2 SBs) in the penultimate frame were the key offense and RHP Carlos Canales was lights out in the final 2 innings (0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 4 Ks).

RHP Jose Arias (4 2/3 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 3 Ks) had an effective start and SS Christopher Acosta set aside the 0-for-26 start to his career with a 2-for-4 day in the leadoff spot.

We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Friday, the DSL squads (Blue at DSL Padres Gold, Gold at DSL CLE Goryl) get action started at 10:00am CST as part of a 7-game slate (all evening games stateside affiliates), while the Milwaukee Brewers host St. Louis at 7:10pm CST.

Well, coming into this Lynchburg series I proclaimed the Mudcats 'should' be content with aiming for a split given their results the past week plus. Anything else would be gravy. Well, toss the gravy out - it spoiled. The time to go for that split is now. It starts tonight. The goal as I now see it (the foul poles have moved, you see): leave the series ahead 1.0 G. Or, lose the series 2-4 and head into the final series trailing by 1.0 G.
