It’s Father’s Day and Revenge Day for Low-A Carolina, who needs a win behind RHP Travis Smith (2.95 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 6.4 K/9 in 36.2 IP) to avoid a 6-0 series sweep.

A win for the AA Shuckers at Chattanooga today would salvage a 3-3 series split, with RHP Brett Wichrowski making his 2nd start of the week (4 IP, 6 R (1 ER), 6 H, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 3 Ks).

Outside of Nashville a pretty inauspicious start across the board.

As you can imagine, not a lot of hits for the affiliates (yes early on in most games) but just not a lot offense.

Hoping that the pitching can hold up, but a lot of shorter outings (Birchard already out) as most are the Tuesday starters I believe.

Going for a run, hoping the offenses can find a way to come alive

Nashville up 5-0 with Bruce Zimmerman (4.2 IP), Craig Yoho (0.2 IP), Bryan Hudson (0.2 IP) and Tyler Jay (1 IP) working around seven singles and three walks to shut em out thru seven.

Bobby Dalbec (two HR, single), Freddy Zamora (three singles, stolen base), Tyler Black (two walks, stolen base), and EMJ (double) have been the standouts with the bats thus far.

Shuckers trailing 6-0 top of five though all four of Brett Wichrowski’s runs were unearned on a pair of Brock Wilken errors.

Luis Lara and Garrett Spain singles the only hits so far.

Wisco leading 5-2 top eight.

Jadher Areinamo has a double, two singles, and three RBI (& some outs on the bases).

Los dos Garcias - Eduardo y Yhoswar - have a double each with Eduardo adding a single & walk as well.

Patricio Aquino went two scoreless (1 H | 1 BB | 2 K).

Carolina trailing 2-0 after six but just got on the board top of seven with Reece Walling tripling then scoring on a wild pitch.

Jesus Made with a single, double, two walks and two stolen bags (& some outs on the bases too) to this point.

Biloxi puts up a half dozen runs in the fifth to tie things up at six apiece.

Luke Adams hit a grand slam and Brock Wilken followed with a two run shot.

Well, it looks like most of the offenses woke up. Wow Biloxi and Wisconsin!!!

Just curious - has anyone heard or seen anything on Bitonti?

He hasn't played since 6/11 (Wed).

And if he is getting a mental break time off, wonder if Braylon Payne can use that as well.

Finally on the Mudcats - fun exercise - this team is as young as Freshman dominated college squad, wonder how they would fare in the CWS with all those 18-20 years, with Hernandez/Meccage/Smith/Dubanewica as the starters....

As I was looking up Bitonti's absence, Shuckers offense decided to put up a TD (no extra point) and it is now 12-6!!

Wow, going to bottom of 7, and Manfredi in for his 2nd inning. And he hits the first batter. Uh oh.

Looking through the box scores:

TRats with 10 runs on 12 hits and 11 walks, they left 9 on base, could have done more damage. They answered the call for offense.

Sounds with 9 hits, 2 of which were Dalbec bombs.

Mudcats - at least Made had a good day at the plate 2-3 with 2 walks.

And a bunch of Chattanooga personnel (I think coaches only?) get thrown out.

Next pitch Manfredi throws the pitch and Ibarra (who has killed Biloxi this series) just crushes a 2 run HR. Oh boy it's a 12-8 game now.  Yikes. C'mon Manfredi settle in and let's get these outs here.

Manfredi hit another batter - on the top of the helmet.

Either is command is way, way, way off, or some shenanigans are going on.

C'mon Shuckers just get outs and move along. What is going on here??

And Manfredi is indeed ejected. For his second HBP in the inning I would presume and the fact it was over his head (glancing the helmet).

Not sure what happened, first I worry for Manfredi as an injury since that was just an awful sequence - HBP, HR, K, HBP. And Ayrault is tossed. 3 Chattanooga player/coaches, and 2 Biloxi player/coaches ejected in the past 5 minutes.

Bryant comes in and throws a wild pitch. This 7th inning has been pretty wild.

And gets a ground out. Runner on 3rd with 2 outs.

And Bryant Ks the next batter to end the threat. Phew.  It's 12-8, but man that was crazy with the top of the inning and then the weirdness in the bottom. Hope Manfredi is OK, because that is just bizarre to be that wild. Unless there was bush league stuff going on (I haven't watched the game or a lot of the series to know if there was beef with those hitters??)
